I broke my phone and I have insurance but I have no clue how to get another phone some help!!!!!

If your insurance is billed to your bill (TEC OR WPP) then it goes through Asurion. You can file a claim online at phoneclaim.com or over the phone by calling them at 1-866-653-4077.  If your insurance is charged to a card or is paid through another method then you most likely have third party insurance and would want to go through them (can generally find out by calling the store you purchased the device from and finding out which insurance they provide).

Unfortunately I must beg to differ. Right now I'm sitting here debating whether to check out the Christmas special on iPhones at Walmart, or just get a cheap generic alternative as a backup and hope that some day soon I will be able to use the VZwireless phone service I'm paying for. I made the mistake years ago of purchasing Asurion coverage. That situation was resolved only when I threatened to call the attorney general. For the next couple of years I told everyone I could. I steered employees and friends to other carriers. But then Verizon made many improvements in customer service, and I have been recommending Verizon ever since. Until now. Early this week, after my almost brand new iPhone 5S was damaged, I learned that I was once again at the mercy of Asurion. I spent 2 days of utter misery trying to fix the phone myself, rather than face another such episode. But I eventually decided to give the "Total Protection" plan a try, hoping it would be better than Walmart at Christmas. I made it top priority to do whatever was necessary to wade through, and then wait through this horribly frustrating process.  I was "assured by Asurion" that within 3 hours after the initial affidavit was completed, they would contact me for the next step. I stayed glued to the computer for 4 hours.  Having gotten no response, I went back on-line and was eventually able to complete the claim submission process, still leaving more than enough time for the phone to arrive today. However, in spite of their commitment, which is apparently as meaningless now as it was 4 yrs ago, I spent the entire day 8am to 8pm waiting for FedEx to arrive, to no avail. So here I am, facing the weekend with NO PHONE!  And instead of being out $600 for a new phone, or $400 for a used one, and actually having a phone, I'm out $1000, and have none. I would love to be happy with Verizon again, but right now, Walmart is looking pretty good.

If your iPhone is less than a year old you can go to the Apple store and they will either fix it or replace it. If after a year well unless you have Apple Care you would have to use Assurion if you purchased it, or the manufacturer one year warranty. However damage is not covered, water damage is not covered, glass breakage is not covered under the one year warranty, but it is under assurion. There is also a sliding deductible you must pay in advance before Assurion will send out another second hand device.

Its all depends on what you need in regards to what insurance you use. Lost, theft, water damage, or physical damage is covered under Assurion manufacturers defects covered under verizon sending another device to you and you returning the undamaged device back to them. Any damage no matter how slight means you will pay big money to verizon.

Asurion provides coverage to all the major carriers. Unless you're getting it third party, if you have insurance on your cell phone it's likely Asurion.

UPDATE:  I did get a brand new iPhone 5S just delivered (at least I assume its brand new, its in the shrink-wrap packaging exactly like the original phone).  My biggest angst was not knowing if I would be spending the time, money, and inconvenience to get a poor quality replacement item, which did happen in another situation.  I was also quite surprised it was delivered on Sat night, as the tracking notice said M-F delivery, and when I checked status this morning, it was still in another state.

NOTE:  Delivery times are 8am to 8pm.  So anyone having to use the insurance may want to take that into account when deciding where to have the phone delivered. 

I also complained about the process, but with so many people being so dishonest, it seems nothing is simple any more.  Perhaps this was the best they can do. The delivery was still late, and the contract is not what I was expecting.  But all things considered...

I am very happy to have a brand new phone, before the weekend was over.

SPOKE TO SOON - almost 3 hours later, still cannot activate phone.  Had the phone arrived on Friday as promised, could have gotten Verizon support.  Guess it will be Monday after all...
