It has all the things I like including no slider , faster CPU , super thin and sexy , OLED high-res screen.
Not to mention a newer version of Android than we have (2.1) I bet it will have BT voice dialing too ; ) Google would`nt screw that up like Moto did.

So what are the chances that there will be a CDMA version of the Nexus One coming to Verizon? These (so far) rumors keep coming up. The phone looks quite promising, though I wonder about battery life on it. (Also, I prefer the black casing of the Eris if we are just talking looks).
If the Nexus One comes to Verizon (I hope it does, and soon!), I believe it would do very well - not everyone wants a keyboard, so this would broaden the offerings Verizon brings to the market.

I do find it odd that Google made this phone (which I admittedly haven't studied much, and therefore haven't found a reason to get really jazzed about) with a GSM radio, unless it was a nod to T-Mobile for some reason. AT&T certainly isn't throwing much support behind Android and Verizon has. In spades. Perhaps Google, like a lot of phone makers, I suppose, are waiting on the LTE roll-out.
Eh? Or all wet?

a.k.a. Droid 2
ROFLMAO.
You're under the impression that the Motorola Calgar/Devour is the "Droid 2?"
First, lets dissect as to the reasons why your **bleep**umptions are incorrect:
- The link in itself provides a hint as to what the Calgary provides: The MotoBlur (See MotoCliq) UI.
- The Calgary couldn't be a "Droid 2" because not only does it run on the MotoBlur UI, that wouldn't line up seeing as how the Droid runs on Stock Android.
- The specs on that phone are guaranteed to be sub-par to that of the Droid's, or very similar to first generation Phones.
- It looks wretched.
{please keep your posts courteous}
{please keep it relevant}
@GeriO: Thanks, you QT.<3

Personally I would have rather had the Calgary. Simply because it would have been free for me after all the NE2 and all that. I got the Droid and I am more than happy with it but there are somethings that are somewhat lost on me really and I would have been fine with a lower end phone. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade the Droid for a Calgary or whatever it will be called but I like its keyboard much better and it will be cheaper. Oh well but that **bleep** phone has been kicked around for ever if it ever actually gets released it will crack me up.

I am available to upgrade next month. I was originally thinking (back in November) of upgrading to the Omnia II, as I was not that impressed with the Moto Droid (or Motorola in general after my short lived Razr experience). I absolutely love HTC, but the Eris is lacking in some major departments. Granted, for $99, it's more than worth it to deal with a less than stellar screen, lack of flash, Cupcake, slower performance, etc. But in all honesty, I'd rather pay the extra money to get a phone that I'm satisfied with (or satisfied with for eight months, until I am bored with it and wanting something new.).
Correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe we are able to get the Nexus One in it's current state and I have no interest in hopping providers every time a new phone comes out that Verizon cannot or will not add to their network. I am far more interested in knowing if the HTC Passion/Dragon/Bravo is coming to the Verizon network. Oh. My. God. I will hold out as I can, dealing with my buggy/glitchy Omnia if I know we are actually getting that phone!! But, yes I would feel completely miffed if I get the Eris because the Passion goes to T-mobile and then we suddenly get the Nexus One.

Well it's no longer coming soon...it's here...at least for T-mobile. Verizon is supposed to get it soon too. I wouldn't say I feel burned but seeing as I got my Droid less than a month ago I have some "buyer's remorse" now. Especially if it doesn't get Android 2.1 soon and the Nexus One turns out to be as great as advertised, without the Droid's shortcomings.

You realize that the Droid and Nexus are near identical in specs aside from the processor, right?
And that we'll be getting Apps2SD soon, right?
And that We're getting 2.1, right?
K just making sure that I got a good jist of all the 'shortcommings' of the Droid you speak of. That's all.

Nope, I don't feel burned at all. It was my decision to buy a nice cheap Eris rather than spend more on a droid or wait to spend more on a Dragon derivative. Technology changes very quickly, that's just the way it is. If you constantly hesitate or wait until the next big thing, you'll never get to enjoy any piece of technology. You just have to buy when you're ready and accept the fact that whatever you just bought will be outdated in just a few months time, get used to it, it'll be your turn to get the new amazing phone again soon. But for now, enjoy what you have.

Verizon is getting the Nexus One. It was announced yesterday at the Google Press Conference. It is listed on their site as spring of 2010. It was also announced that the Droid will be updated to 2.1 when the code gets open sourced in a few days. If that means we will get it in a few days or if that's when Motorola will get their hands on it to start optimizing it for the Droid's hardware, I'm not sure. I have a feeling its the latter.
With that said I have no "burned feeling" about buying my Droid knowing that the N1 is coming to Verizon. I got the Droid because it is the best phone on Verizon's network now. Technology is constantly advancing so I would drive myself nuts if I felt shafted every time a new phone came out. Based on the reviews of the N1 however, I feel as though the N1 does not beat the Droid hands down and the conclusion is still up in the air. I love my Droid as it has surpassed all of my expectations and keeps bringing that WOW factor when new stuff gets released on it like the demo of Google Earth that I saw yesterday which will be coming soon to the market. I have experience 2.1 already and I have to say it is amazing and am anxiously awaiting its optimized release for the Droid. Coming from the BB Storm1 I have to say having one update already and another in the works is a nice change of pace!
P.S.. I don't think hearing NEEEEEXXXXXXXUUUUUUUUUSSS would have the same effect as DRRRROOOOOIIIIIIIIDDD!
DROID DOES! End of story!

Nope...not dissapointed at all. Love my droid, and besides, processors are nearly identical. Since we get to store to the sd eventually then who cares if it has 512mb? lol. Nexus doesn't have an hw keyboard and that's a dealbreaker for me. I about lay money the camera is the same thing too, droid just needs a software update to fix that crazy iso issue....Sorry...lol

I have been saying this since the day I created the thread showing people that we ARE in fact getting the Nexus. Completely agree with you, but this...this takes the cake:

Apple may be the one feeling burned. So many of us, like me, would already have an iPhone, except that they shut us out of it by signing an exclusive deal with AT&T when we're committed to Verizon. I have 5 phones on my Verizon plan and can't just drop Verizon to switch to AT&T and the iPhone. I'm also not going to pay another $150 a month for an iPhone, whenI already have a good functioning phone. So I've been mad at Apple for quite awhile for doing that. And now that there is another choice for the rest of us, I'm going to buy that instead. I wouldn't get an iPhone today if it were $49. They can stick it.

Well, i'm not too upset because the price of the phone is outrageous.
I'm one of those people who went from an old school phone to a smartphone. So I think baby stepping in this manner is what a lot of people did. And most of us did it for 50 bucks or less with the two year contract.

Two months ago, I bought my son a new Gateway Desktop. It was $50 less than the one I bought a year ago. Everything is identical to my older version except it came with a 1T hard drive. Do I feel burned about that? NO!
What's the BIG difference between the Droid and The Nexus One? The processer, BT dailing, and the screen.
While the Nexus One hosts a muscle car engine of a chipset, the Droid has a screen resolution the Nexus can't touch. BT dailing, oh well. I am disappointed it's not supported by the Droid, but I can live without it. The Nexus One hosts the same crappy soft keyboard as the Droid, out-of-the-box. And neither phone has pinch to zoom.
Motorola did announce a flash upgrade to Android 2.1 and Adobe announced flash 10.1 for the Droid. Adobe also has video showing the Droid running flash.
Nope, I don't feel burned, I feel excited! For once I think I made a fantastic choice going with the Droid. this phone has lovely possibilities!
We all know a phone is limited to it's network. (cough, cough AT&T). Even a morning news/talk show host showed his frustration this morning with his iPhone (Morning Joe: Joe Scarborough).
It's funny how AT&T runs their commercials they support data and voice at the same time when, in big cities, the iPhone simply doesn't.
I've rambled too long.
Bottom line, Droid Does!
For once, Big Red did not disappoint!

If that's your attitude then you will always feel burned, new phones come out all the time. At some point you have to make the jump...if you are constantly waiting for the next big phone, you'll never have it!
