My recent android update changed my formats but now my emails only appear as received. I cannot open them or read the contents. What do I need to do to allow me to open the email & read contents?

I would suggest removing the email account from the phone. Verifying the mobile server settings to allow you access to the email account and reenter the server settings to reconnect with your email account.
