I just bought an Eris last night, and so far am enjoying it immensely. I will try to give as much background/information here as possible to perhaps assist in resolving my question.
1. I'm a former Alltel customer, I just upgraded from my former Alltel phone to the Eris
2. I have downloaded several wallpapers/backgrounds using the "Backgrounds" app, but am unable to set them as my wallpaper.
3. I have downloaded the Astro File Manager (after searching this and other forums for ideas), but the only option I get when using this app and viewing the backgrounds is to "Share". I do not see an option for setting these images as wallpaper anywhere.
4. I'm having the same issue with a ringtone I downloaded from a text message. I did not want to set it as my default ringtone, so I chose to save it. Now I can't locate it in any of the ringtone menus, although I do see it in the file manager app when accessing the SD card. Once again, I have no option other than "Share".
For the possibly extraneous info:
Model # ADR6200
Firmware version 1.5
Baseband version 2.32.40.11.09
Software version 1.16.605
Hardware version 2

On to the SMS issue. I have actually had this issue since before when I was still an Alltel customer, and on my old phone, so I'm going to imagine this is probably an issue with the feature version/code on my account, but I'll give it a shot. If I type a text message longer than 160 characters and it automatically goes into a 2nd "page" and send the message, the recipient will not receive it. This goes for all carriers, even if the recipient is an Alltel/VZW customer. So all texts longer than 160 characters I have to type in separate messages and send them separately.
