How do I get information that is backed up on my cloud on to my device?

How do I download my cloud information from my desktop to my droid phone?

If the info is in the "cloud" (Verizon cloud?  Google?)  then simply log in to the cloud from your phone directly and sync that way.  Why add the additional steps to go from cloud to computer to phone?
