It's back...the old sign in failed message...

All of my Verizon email accounts have suddenly started giving me the message "Sign in failed".  When I tap the message it tells me the server password has changed and to enter the new password.  Started today sometime in the AM, eastern time.  It's not a password issue since I can still log in via a web browser using the password that supposedly has changed.  It would be nice if Verizon could send out some type of message to let their users know when they're going to start messing with security settings in a production environment.

Mine are failing as well. I removed the verizon.net accounts from my phone until the problem is resolved.

That is an issue with the Verizon Residential landline internet service and not the Wireless side. You might want to check the Residential forums to see if the problem has been discussed or resolved. http://forums.verizon.com/

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I'm trying to post over there too but for some reason the website is not allowing me to set up an account for those forums. (fora?)

YES! Both my Samsung Galaxy S6 and my Surface are giving me failure notices.

So what causes this?

And is there anything I can pro-actively do about it?

Where do I report it?

Thanks for any help!

I was going to grab one of my Surfaces to check, but, you beat me to it.  🐵

Looks like a problem between Verizon Wireless and Verizon Core.

I suspect someone is aware of the impairment, but, no public acknowledgement as of yet.

Sorry to be dense, but I'm not sure what Verizon Core is.

But I guess the answer is - wait and see?

I like the Live Chat option with a rep on Verizon Wireless, but they said it was a "Verizon.net" email provider problem... perhaps another way of saying what you're saying?

Old habits die hard. :o(

I was an IXC/CLEC Central Office technician for 23 years so I often use terminology from that profession.

Verizon Core is another way to refer to Verizon's wireline/landline division...aka "Ma Bell".

If you notice that the sign in failure due to a supposed password change and occurs when you are on Verizon's data network, but oddly enough not when your phone is on WiFi, then this is the SOLUTION you should try. It worked for me:

Go to Network in Settings and then go to More Networks (Samsung Note 4, your menus might differ). Go to More Networks and then Mobile Networks and then to Network Mode. The key is to get to the Network Mode setting. If GLOBAL is selected, then change the mode to LTE/CDMA. Your access problem should be cleared up. If network mode wasn't set to GLOBAL to begin with, then perhaps this solution won't work for you.

Usually, the need to repeatedly sign into our Verizon Core Email accounts is caused by problems within one of the Verizon networks. The problem appears without warning, and, eventually, corrects itself without end user intervention...except for the need to repeatedly sign into our accounts.
