I got my LG V20 yesterday and noticed that the Smart Settings are missing. After some research it appears that Verizon is notorious for removing functionality from phones. Has anyone else noticed this and is there any way to get those features back?

I have multi window figured out! You need to become a developer on the phone first. Settings > About phone > Tap build number multiple times until you become a developer > back out and go into developer options > enable multi process web view.......im sure ill figure out more as I play and will keep posted.

Very annoyed! On the G4 when I was connected to my home WiFi the quick remote would then show up on the top screen pull down tab. I missed my remote when I upgraded to note 7 and could not wait to have it ready at the flip of my finger again when I went back to LG. Why do this to me Verizon!!!!!!

I'm confused, but I thought multi window works. Maybe what I'm thinking multi window is different than what it actually is. Isn't that the feature when the two apps are working on the screen at the same time? Or is this another feature that I'm not aware of? I think I've seen it called split screen. Or are these 2 different features? I appreciate any info on this because maybe there is another feature that I was unaware of that my phone is supposed to have access to. I'm really happy I like the LG V20 as much as I do because I would normally be very upset to find out that I paid for a phone that didn't have all the features that were advertised all over the net. I always knew that Verizon put on their own software, but I never realized Verizon disabled features on their phones that all the other carriers have enabled until I purchased this phone. How disappointing!

Split screen also works for me, the only thing I have noticed with split screen, that I had seen in some reviews, is that there isn't the option to pin apps that you don't want to close when you select close all. I don't know if that was part of Android 7 or part of the LG UI?

LG UI I believe. He's my Nexus 5X. I don't see any pinning option.
I know you can pin apps so people can't switch between apps or get out of an app. That should be in settings and is off by default iirc on all devices.

In the reviews I had watched when you looked at the list of active apps (like your screen shot below) you had 3 options, the X to close, the multi screen icon and next to that a pin icon. Not a huge deal, just one more option that keeps you wondering what all Verizon elected to remove, or were unintended victims of other changes they made?

Here's the solution. Let me know if it works. I've been out of town and decided to wait until I'm home to get my V20.

Thank you for the post TONYTX. It looks like Verizon also removed My Places from Locations and this is required to set the home and away from home profiles in smart settings. Do you have any recommendations for getting back My Places? I tried looking down the list of apps in quickshortcutmaker and didn't see anything that would do this?

Where did you find my places? It looks like everything else is working on mine if I can get that to work. Just like someone else mentioned, I'm going to wait the 5 days and hope it works. Does anyone have a clue on why Verizon disabled this feature, the FM radio, the Google In Apps app, and possibly other itemS while the other carriers leave them alone? Is Vetizon trying to give peopl ammunition to leave and go to their competition? I know they want us to use more date, but I don't think it would be that dramatic of a difference. I just don't get it.

I can also confirm that while this shortcut maker does indeed allow access to smart settings, "my places" has been removed by Verizon so at home and away from home functionality is not possible.
However, the Bluetooth open a certain app does work so that's a plus.
Thanks for the link. Shame on Verizon.
And split screen / multi mode still missing as well.
HOWEVER I found there is a program called "Verizon Hidden Menu" and one of the subprograms is "feature enable/disable" so all we have to do is figure out how to gain access to "Verizon Hidden Menu" - it says I don't have permission to access it. That needs to change. Its my phone, Verizon.

UPDATE: I tried ##3328873 press send, then service code 000000
however the only feature enable/disable is wifi enable/disable, camera enable/disable, ota-dm and tool launcher.
wifi is enabled, camera enabled is unchecked? tool launcher is enabled. I wonder what tool launcher is?

Smart Settings..
Smart Settings.....Fixed by us the customers
So this is just a little crazy. You pay $700 for a phone, $20 for to activate the phone.....And you can't use all the features that LG built into the phone.
Verizon if you are not going to let all features be used, then you should at least state that before the phone is bought. People read reviews of phones, look at phones their friends have (even on other providers) and watch review videos. You regulate phones and updates where other companies allow many more unlocked phones (Axon 7 is an example).
Smart Settings is not something exclusively from LG, you can get many apps that will do this as well. So disabling it merely makes your customers take another step that can be more complicated and give them a less than perfect experience. (Tasker, IFTTT are just two)
Again Just to make sure everyone knows, this is Verizon that is forcing this on us. Not an LG issue. If you need Proof. Here is the fix.
Here is how to get it back.
Download QuickShortcutmaker from the market
Open it and scroll down to smart settings.
Open the smart settings dropdown.
Now press the first smart settings drop down.
This will create a icon on your home screen.
That's it.

I pulled down quickshortcutmaker and it does give you the smart settings; however, to get the WiFi profiles to work you need to be able to set your home in My Places which is supposed to exist under locations. . . But Verizon has removed the My Places! Aaargh ! I am currently waiting 5 days to see if smart settings will pick up my home location (it says that in the Smart Settings menu) but I am not hopeful.
I haven't had any luck unmasking the My Places. Do you have any recommendations ?
Thank you for the post .

So for me, I wanted it for when I plugged in my head phones. Once they are plugged in, it will start whatever music app you want. That works. I have tried the other location based stuff and I get the same thing, wait 5 days. So what I posted didn't fix it for all services just the music piece.
Sorry!!!!
But this continues to be Verizon not letting the phone work as it was designed.
I am thinking of taking it back and moving to the MOST hated of services AT&T.

Why doesn't Verizon respond to these questions about Smart Setting and My Places? I checked a T-Mobile LG V20 and both Smart Settings and My Places are there. My guess is Verizon doesn't want customers to be able to set wifi to come on when you get home automatically, cutting down on data use.
Verizon - please respond - when will these features that LG provided be activated?
