Moto E4 Plus question

I just got a Moto E4 Plus and when I connect it to my computer (windows 10), the computer says that the phone is empty.  I'd like to transfer photos to the computer so what am I doing wrong?  I have checked drivers & have the lastest version on the computer.

Did you pull down the notification shade on the phone and change the USB connection type from charging only to File Transfer?

Thank you!! That worked! I didn't know I had to do that; on my old smartphone I just plugged it in & could see the files.
