I go to the store Monday and say i was told to come back no later then Wed the 21st  (2days away)  and I was told that was not true and I was wrong.   So I get a text blast saying phones are ready for turn in Tuesday the 20th. SO I call customer service and am told the return can only be done by store in person.  So  I go to my local store and am told sorry   We see the phone on your account and the payments plan but we cant swap your phone out because we cant locate it in our system

I'm about 24 hours from going in , Telling the management in local store how i feel giving them a double bird and walking down the row to sprint for a new service.

Not to mention ive done filed complaints with the BBB , FTC and a few other places .

Perhaps i'll also seek a lawyer.

I'm gonna remove the fact that this is "only just a phone" from the equation here. You complained  to companies that have NOTHING (in theory, they have to take your complaint but still) with the situation. In all amounts of fairness, recalls happen. Life happens. It was handled as quickly reasonable as possible but the ball HAS been dropped in communication, across all the boards....all carriers and customer services. Complaining about it isn't gonna work anything except your nerves. And a lawyer? Who you gonna sue? Verizon? Samsung? You would have to go through arbitration if best with both companies or sue in small claims court which, the case wouldn't win.

Nope, Not handled quickly at all or reasonably.   Verizon will be the target,  They are under federal guidelines now that require them to replace or refund.  And under direction to not allow any customer away from the store still in possession of a note 7 due to risk.  There will be no arbitration.   I take it from your comments you're not failure with whats going on here on a legal stand point.

And yup a short list to sue could include,   Verizon, Samsung,  as well as the CPSC and local governing body of the township I live in. Depends on what is said by whom and what is or is not done by whom.

Tomorrow will be several phone calls as well as in person visits all audo recorded and/or video recorded.

No. Verizon provides the service and Samsung makes the phones. There is nothing going in from a legal standpoint. The matter at hand here is individuals trying to make a quick buck of an unfortunate situation, which did not directly harm them. And let's talk about federal guidelines. When the recall was made public people kept using their phones anyway. That also will be asked at court. A simple meid history would show that.

Good dialogue. It's interesting that the original question, "How do we get a replacement Note 7?" was posted on September 6th, a little over two weeks ago, and to date we haven't heard a distinct, direct, or definitive answer. We've read glimmers of sort-of-maybe-answer wannabees, but nothing definite from those in control (assuming that there is some control) that would cover everyone's situation.

I think that's by design. And I think it's appropriate. No promises, just tongue clucking empathetic vagaries that hint at a positive resolution for all, but sans commitment. Commitment eventually costs money. In this case, lots of money. I cannot blame Verizon for not wishing to pick up a bill for something that is none of their doing.

One could argue that it's a cost of doing their business and one that needs to be fairly met so that the customers their business don't suffer financial harm. I think Verizon is doing that. You want to return for a refund? Okay, but do it before the 30th. You want to exchange for a different phone? Same answer. If the customer has made multiple fruitless, frustrating trips to the V store and/or hours on this list or the phone seeking answers and promises, well, that's their choice. It certainly isn't something mandated by anyone's situation.

Good luck with a lawsuit. Anybody can sue anyone for anything. I'm sure Dewey, Cheetem  and Howe will have a good time representing a classless action. I mean, there has to me some merit there somewhere. Right?

Outside of a good dose of frustration, facing the distinct possibility of being stuck with a replacement phone I would never have purchased, I guess I'm pretty unscathed by all of this. I'm not burned, my car isn't burned, my kid isn't burned, and my wife still calls me whenever she pleases. Nothing much has changed in my neck of the woods.

Let's see what daylight brings. It is September 21, Samsung's day of reckoning. They did make a promise. . .

I have been a long term customer of Verizon. I have the note 7 thats defective. I paid full price for it. I have spoken to many Verizon reps and went to a corporate store yesterday. What i have found is complete deception and lies from Verizon throughout the whole ordeal. I have decided that today i am going to a store to return my note 7 for a refund then cut the cord with Verizon. I know my leaving will not really harm Verizon. But i will have peace of mind. This may and probably will happen again. In my opinion, Verizon did not take care of their customers with this.

So, daylight brought me a new Note 7 in coral blue. Took my GS7E exchange phone to the V store and the greeter said yup, they'd take care of me but they were our of black phones. There were 10 V-Aides working so it didn't take more than 30 minutes or so before I was greeted and the exchange back to the N7 underway. Loaded up the new N7, put it online and out the door I went. New contract date but not a penny in exchange.

Hope you all have similar experiences.

A massive anti-climax. . .

We did a return and repurchase. So the sales tax from my old Note 7s was refunded and I was charged for the new Note 7 sales tax. They gave me a $20 X 2 bill credit to make up for new line activations that I paid for the 2 phones ($40). They also gave me $50 bill credit for the 2 X $25 from Samsung (for our troubles). It took nearly 2 hours 5:30PM to 7:30 PM (sadly there were coral blues there but ran out while I was there).

I guess the verizon stores all did things different. I had to pay the taxes on my note 7 again. No refund on the recalled note taxes yet. And the $25 ? When i asked the rep about that he told me to contact samsung

pherson another thing that people forget is even VZW reps got Note 7's. If it was a conspiracy this was an inside job, Samsung wouldn't have let or rather VZW wouldn't have let their reps purchase a defective phone. My friend who works for VZW call center bought a Note 7.

I had to pay for the taxes again but they told me that they refunded the taxes that I paid on the original transaction. Come to think of it, they over charged me for tax the second time around. I should have been charged 6% of $1728 (2 Note 7s at $864 each) or $103.68 in tax, yet I was charged $106.08 for tax. So I was charged. The rep I was working with conveniently forgot to waive the $20 X 2 Phones = $40 activation fee.....Another rep noticed and supposedly applied a $90.00 credit (supposed to be applied at a later date) which included $40 for activation plus 2 X $25 or $50 from Samsung. I see none of that yet only the $146.08 (2 X $20 plus the errant tax charge of $106.08......$2.40 in error). I am going to call billing right now to check on this because VZW will nickel and dime you and all errors are conveniently/ coincidentally in the company's favor LOL!
