Restocking fee

I spent an hour waiting to talk to someone today and another hour on the phone with the customer service guy over a $50 restocking fee that I was charged for a defective phone that the Verizon technical support lady told me to send back since I only had the phone for   a day.  I even asked her if there would be any charge after she tried to  troubleshoot it for 45 minutes and she couldn't make the function of the smart phone work.  She said that there would not be any charge so I sent it back.  Today I noticed the  fee  and the guy said that he couldn't  do anything because it was more than  six weeks.  We've had a family plan with  Verizon for   over 17 years and    we don't look at our bill from Verizon   because we believed that Verizon is customer focused, however, that's not the case at all.  We've already started looking at T-mobile and AT&T since family members and friends have these companies. I never thought that we would change and they would let us  go over $50 that they charged fraudulently.

But when you don't look over your bill with the other companies and they over charge you then what?  Why would you not check any bill every month?  Mary
