I have been looking at the Samsung A52 5G to buy for my prepaid account. The 3 different Verizon store employees I spoke to said "yes, you can buy any unlocked phone, take the sims card out of your old phone and put it in the new phone." One employee told me that it was probably the same phone but the A42 is just for Verizon. My concern is that when I go to the Verizon website the only new phone they show is the Samsung A42. I went to the Samsung site and compared the two and they are NOT the same. I just want to know if the A52 5G will work on the Verizon network or not.

Hello, Marek12. Yes an unlocked Galaxy A52 model number: SM-A525U1 will work on our network. You'll need to get a new 5G SIM card to support the Galaxy A52 on our network. Thank you.

We want to make sure you have a working phone on our network. You can check compatible https://www.verizon.com/bring-your-own-device/ devices here. You will need the device ID. If it is not a Verizon phone, it will need to be compatible to work.

So is there a way to get the device ID before actually buying it? I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a phone and then find out it won't work on my account. Geeez I thought this would be a simple question, but no one seems to be able to give me a straight answer.
I see that you're looking into purchasing a Samsung A52 5G phone. Are you purchasing it as brand new or used?

If you type that model in the search on the Samsung website it doesn't come up as Verizon for a carrier. You could always call Samsung and make sure.

I saw that also which is why I asked the 3 different verizon employees, at different verizon stores and they all 3 said if you buy an unlocked phone it will work. When I couldn't find it on the verizon website at all, I decided to ask in here. As you see I still can't get an answer. LOL I just don't understand why it's such a hard question for them.
I would think Samsung would know. Best buy has an unlocked one on their site but doesn't list carriers so you might ask them.

Thank you for your time and effort on my question. I will try these things. I still find it rather sad that Verizon themselves couldn't answer what should be a simple question. Maybe I should look at a new carrier instead of just a new phone. Who knows...... they are probably all the same.
Verizon doesn't want you to even look at this phone! They want you to buy the A42 a completely inferior phone next to the A52....to add insult to injury they only offer a measly 4 mg of ram with the A42....that's it! It's interesting that Xfinity does carry the A52 5g!
Xfinity shares the same 5g frequency as Verizon.
Thus an unlocked A52 should work with Verizon.

That link requires the device ID unless I am not seeing something. If they haven't bought the phone yet how would they be able to provide that? I would just contact samsung directly.

You need the device in hand to see the ID. Did you reach out to samsung?
Am waiting on a response from them. Was just trying to once again get Verizon to answer my question. Also while looking around I saw where T-Mobile has a senior deal that includes the A52, so I may just look into that some more. I just find it sad when a company can't answer a question that concerns their own company. Know what I mean? Thanks again for all of your time and effort.
I would think if it was an option to buy an unlocked one for Verizon the Samsung site would have it available but post back if Samsung says different. Couldn't pay me to deal with t-mobile again, what a nightmare.

Asking for the IMEI before one purchases the phone is backward. The question here is "I am looking to purchase a 'Samsung Galaxy A52 5G' to use with my existing prepaid Verizon account. Is this phone compatible with Verizon and with my account?" There are several users here asking this pre-purchase question, and obtaining the IMEI for a new device requires post-purchase information. As much as official help from official Verizon support staff is appreciated, the answers given are backward to the need.

Samsung does list on their site what carriers for the phone models. Pretty sure LG does too but LG is no longer making phones. Note sure about other brands. I would really think the maker of the phobe could answer this. It's very easy to call Samsung and ask.
I have purchased the Samsung A52 Android. When I'm away from home WiFi the phone does not switch to data or connect to internet. Does this mean Verizon does not support the A52 phone?
