Because Verizon Wireless never sold that phone directly, they have part in deciding when or if the device model will get the update. That is the whole premise of a "Pure Edition" aka no carrier involvement.

Well - my wife uses a Moto G4 not purchased at VZW. It was updated to
nougat ~ 3 months ago. I t doesn't sound like us consumers are ever going
to get an answer to this. I'm starting to agree with the people that
indicate they will never by a Motorola product again.

Habuman, we want you to have the best experience possible on that phone. Software update are sent to your device directly from the manufacturer. I apologize. We're unable to push the Nougat software update to your phone. Additionally, we're not provided with a date or time as to when the update will be sent to your phone. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Thank you for the feedback and information. I have always been satisfied
with my service from VZW over the years. I wish I could say the same thing
about the current level of existing customer support from Motorola AKA
Lenovo.
