question about google maps/GPS on Droid

The turn by turn directions that i've been getting are not the most direct route.  Is there a way to change the settings so that it gives the shortest or easiest route?

good question.  i too have experienced this.  i was sent to a job site one way by my Droid and then sent a different way heading home.

my guess is that the Droid may not send you the most direct way but the fastest. your direct route was probably filled with stop lights, more 35 mph, and stop signs. just guessing.

the way home was a couple minutes shorter.

I didn't see many options, but if you go to "Route Info" off the menu, you'll often see other routes proposed, and you can choose which route you'd like to take.

They have approximate distances and times so you can choose, and if your "traffic" is turned on, you can see why it's telling you that one route will be taking 55 minutes to go 10 miles

it does that because it's not smart enough yet. me and you are waiting for these options as well. i know it sucks. and I hope they do add these features.
