Buyer Beware

Hours spent trying to fix my droid turbo.  Hours with tech support.  Months of not receiving phone calls/missed calls on this phone, and no resolution.  And being told by tech support that they had never seen this problem before.  And I see it is a common problem.  I am screwed as a customer, locked into a phone that does not work.  I will limp along until my contract ends, and sever my ties with this big corporation that doesn't care.  Thanks for nothing Verizon.

if you don't mind me asking? what is the number one trigger issue that caused you to start trouble shooting your phone in the fist place?

Family members and friends were trying to get a hold of me by calling, and I wasn't receiving calls, since May of this year (we think we've narrowed it down to that)  I was finally able to document through family base that my kids were calling me, but no record on my phone.  Months going through tech support, new Sim card, new refurbished phone...same issues until I thought I was going nuts.  Today, Verizon sending another refurbished phone.  I'm just weary of the effort, I have TRIED to make all the fixes work-  but after a full week "we'll leave no stone unturned" and no resolution, I feel frustrated beyond what I should.

Maybe it's not the phone?

ask people around you that have service, who their carrir is, then switch to the one that you hear  most.

My adult kids have Verizon phones of later models, and they are having no issues.  I've traveled all over the U.S. this summer and it doesn't matter where I am at- same issue.

What really got to me today, after a 3 hour drive to Verizon store, was having to talk to tech support on phone AGAIN-after the hard working Verizon Representative had to throw up his hands in defeat- And basically be told by phone tech, "lady, this just isnt a possible scenario."

Cgs23,

It is extremely important for your phone to work at all times. Especially to make and receive calls. It does sound like the issue is directly tied to you. Since we have ordered another replacement phone. please keep us updated on how that phone works. If that still is not resolving your issue. we can attempt a SIM card change and/or a phone number change. Thank you for being patient with us this whole time. We appreciate you working through this for such a long time.

I can text and get onto internet without any problem.  Just not send and receive calls.

thats a lot to take in at once. I do have a jump to conclusion that may or may not be of some use. has anyone tried to assign your phone a different number? are there other phones on your account that work fine? is it possible that the issue is in fact the phone line itself? I know this sounds far fetched but if you will take a no stone un turned attitude I would say trade phones with one of your children for a week. see if the problem follows the phone or stays with you?

No new phone number assigned...I'd definitely be willing to try that if they offered.  My daughter is still at home under the same Verizon plan with me.  She has a flip phone, texting and phone only.  I obviously can't call her, but she calls out and receives calls without issue (she is not able to call me, but she can anyone else on or off verizon)

so here is my suggestion. trade phones with your daughter. activate her phone on your line of service and your phone on her line of service. if the problem stays with the phone at least you know exactly where the problem is. if the problem stays with your number then you have a solution to provide tech support when you call them back.

this is just a suggestion. I have no experience or expertise to back it up. just an outside the box idea.

So the straight scoop is, the phone is yours.   All carriers are providing service, but phones are not their responsibility.  They stick that on the manufacturer, which I agree with.   You have a lemon and it's time to dump it.

( My son had 2 Turbos in a row, terrible phones, finally got him away from them.   This is why Verizon was giving them away)

i Have purchased 3 phones  eBay for about $200 in the past year.  Great phones.

THere is no reason to suffer with a lousy phone, or pay Verizon hundreds on a contract or finance a several hundred dollar phone.

Dump the turbo.   Purchase a Verizon brand phone off eBay.  Or look into manufacturer offers, line the Moto style, pure edition ( which will only activate with a sim that is already activated on Verizon.   If is not yet white listed)

I have had the same issue for years with Verizon.  Unfortunately my entire family has Verizon service.  I never know if I'm receiving all my calls.  It is very frustrating and I haven't found a solution either.  It definitely is not the phone because I've had several droid models.  If you find a solution, please let me know

Chameleon76,

Receiving all your calls is extremely important. We want to make sure you get all yours. Do you notice a pattern to when you don't receive a call? Certain number, time of day, or location? Please give us details so we can make sure you get the best of Verizon.

Yes, receiving and sending calls is extremely important.  And this, I am unable to do still on a phone that shows it has an obvious glitch for many people.  So Verizon, this is a phone that you offer, and has problems repeatedly- yet you hide behind software problem and keep me limping along locked in contract.

I Like CheifPopeyes suggestion.

I Caution you...Verizons solutions will often just cost you more money.  This is how they unloaded the ton of Turbos they have in stock now.  They may offer an early upgrade, nice BUT, that requires returning a phone in excellent and working condition, which yours is not.  So then they would stick you wil a $200-300 lump sum for returning a faulty phone.  It has been reported so on this forum in the past.

and what if the phone was never the problem?

I have a bad suspicion that I will be charged with that sum.  Lesson learned in a very hard way.  Thank you to all who have responded with suggestions.  We will be discontinuing service with Verizon one by one in the next few months as contract obligations end.  At least I always paid on time, and was not a hassle to them in fulfilling payments.  I'll be stuck for the next year, but at least as I move my kids off, and I bare bone my service, I can take a deep breath and move on to United Wireless.

Okay, I love my service, I have no problem with my phones.  But I didn't buy most of them from Verizon.

STill...

I See no point paying for a service you can't use.  If your line is faulty, you need to have Verizon fix it.  Have you had them put your sim in one of their phones?   If an employee has the same problem on a phone that works fine, then they have to fix the problem, or let you out of the contract.

IF it is only the phone, then At least buy a cheap Verizon phone if you refuse to pay early termination fees.

I Mean, you made it this far, sticking it out a year with a lousy phone makes no sense to me.  Pay $360 plus tax and data plan for a phone you can call with?
