Can i retrieve a deleted text message?

I had a Galaxy S4 and contrary to popular belief, you could look at deleted text, via the "contact history".

But, i cannot seem to find a way to look at a deleted text on the LG G3 which is Android as well.

klmerkel, here's a 2nd pair of eyes to look into this. Have you backed up your text messages at a 3rd party text messaging application?
