Can't make call and contact app won't work

When I press the space on my dial pad to make a call  it says application is not installed, it says the same thing for my contacts. Can anyone help

Try these steps to resolve this issue:

First make sure that your device is updated to the newest software update.

From the main screen, touch menu tab
Touch Settings
Touch About Phone
Touch System Updates

Then power the phone off, then back on.  

Dial *228 send and option 1 on the device. 

If the problems persist, there is a possible application conflict.  

Try deleting recently downloaded  applications that may conflict with the dial pad.

From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located on the bottom of the screen). 

Touch Settings. 

Touch Applications.

Touch Manage Applications. 

Touch the desired service.

Choose the option to un-install.

If all else fails, try a factory data reset. That usually does the trick.
