I keep getting "Cloud contacts backup failed". Why? I have tried wi-fi and data and still get the same message.

Hey there.. if you have an Android, you can download an app from the Google Play called Contacts Optimizer. This app easily moves your contacts from "Phone" to Google and will help you clean up your contacts at the same time. Plus, it's ad free and had a slick interface. Hope this helps!

I started having this same issue to and moved my contacts to Google. If you decide to as well, be sure to use an app called Contacts Optimizer. It automates this process and you're all done in just two clicks.

mdbratch,
Oh my! We want you to be able to successfully sync your contacts. Do you receive the same error message we trying to sync over the data network and over wifi? Are you able to sync other information on your device successfully, such as pictures and videos?

Same thing happened to me after the latest update and here's how I fixed it. I went to My Verizon>My Device>Backup My Contacts. It showed my contacts were backed up, but I went through the backup process and this issue went away. If you've already gone through the process, you may just be able to have it sync your contacts.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dave, I tried that method myself, but it didn't solve the issue for me . What device do you have?

If you shut down all apps with task manager and clear the cache on the cloud app it seems to fix the problem. But you have to do it every time you make changes to your contacts.

jdhashem Hey there... I tried that as well but it didn't solve the issue for me But, I've transferred all my contacts to Google anyway so I no longer need to use Verizon Cloud backup. Thanks for the suggestion though!
DaveinMT Thanks Dave. I'm experiencing this issue particularly on my HTC One M8. I have a Samsung S5 too and don't have any backup issues at all!

i'm having the same issue. i sometimes can't even connect to the cloud from my phone. "Something went wrong. Please wait a moment and try again. If the problem persists, try logging in." it won't even log in. hasn't backed up in a month. i tried doing a sync from my computer to my phone on verizon's website, but it didn't work either. FRUSTRATING!!!!

It works now up until their next update. Are you going to do a FDR each time they change something?

Google in some areas is not high on my happy-meter but the backup service is great like Jakeman1 said. I would not want to do FDR at every change. I use both Google and Verizon for different phones and they work, but it's your call.

If you change your contact sync to Google, does everything get backed up...ie. pictures, music, texts, etc? Thanks for your help

Short answer, yes. I back up my apps data, contacts, passwords, pictures, and settings all of the normal items. I do not save text as a rule.

Tech is nice when it works but a real pain when all goes by-by, alway backup.
