Galaxy S4 missing Wifi Icon in Notification Panel

I can not for the life of me find out why the WiFi icon is not showing in the notification panel. According to the Samsung tech it should be the first one I see in the notification bar. Does anyone else have this issue? The wifi is on and working I just can get to the short cut icon to turn it on and off. I can see all the other icons from Gps to Air View but no WiFi

both VZW AND Samsung support told me this is not available on the VZW model...how is that even possible? Something that useful and standard is taken off of the VZW model. Can someone confirm this for me?

verizon put there wifi icon in the actually drop panel for some odd reason. so you have to pull panel down you should see wifi off if its off and tap it and it connects same for turning it off

I have seen that one before. I actually am annoyed with it. Seems it's always looking for wifi even thought I tell it not too.

I don't know why they did that. All the Other S4s have an icon like the ones in the screenshot. My dad's S4 has it as the first icon.

Resurrecting this thread. My wife and I just upgraded yesterday to Galaxy S4's with Verizon. While exploring our new toys we found that the notification panel on my wife's phone looks identical to the graphic gohan2010 posted (May 22 2:09PM), i.e. it's missing the Wi-Fi icon, but my S4 has the Wi-Fi icon. It's positioned 2nd row, 1st column, while the Airplane mode and all other icons are moved over one position to the right. Previous posters wrote off the missing icon as "typical verizon" and went to 3rd party widgets, but obviously Verizon can and did provide the icon on my S4. Anyone else have the Wi-Fi icon and/or figured out how to add it?

If you do a single finger drag of the notification bar, Wi-Fi shows as ongoing.  Tap the notification to turn Wi-Fi on.

Good tip, thanks. I agree with the OP that this omission is a significant annoyance.

FWIW a screen shortcut to WiFi can also be created by going into Apps > Widgets > 1x1 Settings widget and selecting WiFi.

I use a 3rd party app available in the Google Play store called "Widgetsoid."  You  can customize a widget that will sit in the "Ongoing" section of your dropdown notification bar.  There you can put not only a wifi toggle butt shortcuts to almost any setting or application on your phone.  It works great!
