Google on home screen not working

Yesterday I attempted to use the microphone in the Google bar at the top of my home screen.  I received the message "OFFLINE - NO NETWORK AVAILABLE"  Doesn't matter if I attempt to use the voice mic, or type in what I'm searching for, I receive this message.

If I tap the 'app button' and go to Google Chrome, I'm able to use either the mic or type method to search for something.  This is a [Removed] and I want the google search bar to work on my home screen.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated.
