Since recent update, my moto z is separating responses from a group text into individual responses that have to be downloaded. Is there a fix to this to get back to just a normal group text??

That kind of sounds like what the few group text messages I have received did. They would display as new from the individual sender, but as soon as I downloaded them the messages moved into the group conversation. I was using the default Motorola text message application not Verizon Messages+. I didn't think of it as a problem since they downloaded and eventually were a part of the group conversation.

The same thing is happening to both my husband and myself with our new phones (Pixel) and Verizon Messages +. I don't recall it happening on my Turbo; we just activated the new phones in the last two weeks.
A group message will be initiated or received, responses come in as individual messages that need to be downloaded. Once downloaded, the message is added to the group text, and I believe that individual's texts in the group from that point forward just come in as part of the group without the need to download. It's only the first response that from each one that this happens to. I could be wrong.
It's annoying, but I can live with it. I can easily live without it as well!
Update: Just received a group text from my son - everyone came in as a "download", initially. Once a message from that recipient was downloaded and added to the group thread, subsequent messages from the same recipient appeared in the thread with no need to download. Only the first one from each contact. Weird.
