I get a recording from Verizon " We are unable to authenticate your phone. Please call *8899" I have an LG Optimus Zone 2.
I really need my cell to work , my brother is having surgery tonight!
I tried restarting and *228 to activate. I have had this cell for over a year. I was sitting at home when this happened.

Did you try dialing the number they said in the message? In looking online, a few items indicated this number will direct you to an authentication specialist to attempt to manually reauthorization the phone.
One thing I saw was the number was listed as #8899 so I would try that if the *8899 doesn't work.
With your phone (LG Optimus Zone 2) being a 3G EDVO only smartphone, it won't have the option in the settings to reset the network like a 4G LTE smartphone might have.

It is a pretty old phone model. It might be time to replace it.
