I've had success getting out of the non-human attendant using 'AGENT'
To add to what @jav6 said, the experience I've had recently is that you often have to REPEATEDLY choose "agent" if a link is offered, or type it when it isn't. Sounds like maybe you got stuck in a loop, which has happened to me more times than not. The last one, I had to choose from 5 or so options to describe what I needed help with. Mine was "Technical support" or something similar. Then it gave me more options, and more options, some of which made no sense in the context (mostly trying to sell me stuff, of course.) So I kept having to choose "None of these". Then came the really fun part. It started giving me a "Live agent" option. I would choose it, and it would tell me to sign in. I was, of course, already signed in. In between games of "Agent"/"Sign in" it gave me links to register for an account, more random choices, and at one point almost ended ("Thank you... Is there anything else we can help you with today?") But it did, EVENTUALLY, connect me to an actual person.
