Trash and spam, on email? That is within the email app you use. You can also choose, if you sync all of your email folders and they are really full, to only sync new mail and not all mail. If this is storage on the phone such as media, music, videos and more apps than you need, you can move all those (except apps) to an SD card, or if no SD card, remove from phone and place on PC or in a cloud drive like Drive or OneDrive or Dropbox.
