When I lose service and then regain service, I get spoke announcments like "loss of service" and "Verizon Wireless" that are quite loud. Setting the phone volume to zero or vibrate does not seem to affect these. It can be a problem in a meeting or movie theatre etc.
Any ideas on how to turn this off?

Yes to do this we will need to turn off your ERI (Enhanced Roaming Indicator). The steps for this are listed below:
1. On the home screen select the Menu button
2. Choose Settings
3. Choose Wireless Networks
4. Choose Mobile Network
5. Uncheck the ERI at the bottom of the screen
Once you have done this you will no longer get the "Loss of Service" notification.
