Help!!!

I ran the new update this morning, and my phone has gone to heck since then! It started running really slow, then suddenly shutting itself off and turning back on again. As the day has gone on, now it will I will be in the middle of doing something and I get the blue screen of death, then it shuts off and powers back on again. It's happening REGULARLY now!

I did not have a single issue before the update - it was perfectly fine! This is so upsetting.. Is there any way to uninstall the update??

Casperella I’m sad to learn you are having issues with the device. The 11th reset would be driving me crazy. I am going to ask you to backup and save your information before we have you complete a master reset. Once you backup click the link for instructions on how to master reset the phone. http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/devices/knowledge_base.html/112585

i should clarify in case verizon support takes a look . . . my symptoms were slightly different. 3 different times today, in the middle of using my lg g3, the screen display would shake a bit (sort of like in a movie when a bad guy takes over a television channel), stabilize for a second, and then dim all the way to black. when i would swipe my finger, i'd be on the lock screen. so i don't think mine shut down all the way and restarted.

This is not the experience that we want you to have ptibbits. Let's work together and get your LG G3. Just to verify, what's the exact software version that you have installed? Any physical/liquid damage on the device? What's the last action taken on the device before the screen issue takes place?

It was an Android update. I am on Android Version 6.0, software version VS98547A.

My phone has no physical or liquid damage.

The screen flickering/dimming happens when I am doing any number of things: messaging, emailing (from 3 different apps), using Chrome, looking at the home screen, etc. It isn't limited to any particular activity.

I had this problem and eventually the phone just stopped working. Back up your data and be prepared. Verizon won't do anything until it's unusable. If you don't have insurance, you'll be buying a new phone.

ptibbits, having the newest update should always improve the device instead of hindering it. Let’s get this working for you. How much storage space do you have on the device? How did you update the device (on the phone or the software assistance)? Here are more details http://vz.to/1MMx7mm.

I am only using 12.74GB out of my 32GB.

I did the update via Wi-Fi using the phone only.

i didn't try it. i got frustrated and ended up sending my phone to lg to see if they can do something about it. hopefully when i get the phone back the problem will be fixed. if not, i'll probably yell a bit and then figure out what to do next. maybe the software repair below, maybe give up on lg and verizon.

We are here to ease any frustration. Once the phone comes back let us know how things are at that time (bad or good). Did they give you a turnaround time?

I am also having this same issue.  It started when my phone got the latest over the air update.  I took the phone into a verizon store and they did a little troubleshoot and even called tech support.  Tech support sent a link to repair my phone.  This has not worked at all.

Does anyone know how we can go back to the old software version?  I did not have issues with that version.

I AM VERY FRUSTRATED and do not think it is fair to buy a new phone due to an issue because of a software update.

Let’s bring back the joy for your phone JBabor. Please know we don’t have an option to switch back to an older version but let’s dig in and fix the issues. What issues are you having after the update? Besides the repair link, what other steps have you tried?

I have tried a master reset as well. It still did not help. This update s

horrible. I am going to be really upset if I have to pay for a new phone

because I am no longer under warranty when this is an issue due to a

mandatory software upgrade.

Just an update, I have been with Verizon since it was Primco. I have been

with this company for approximately 18 years. If I consider how much I

have spent over those 18 years, it would total well over $25,000

($125/month average plus purchasing phones). This should show I have been

a loyal customer for a long time. Right now that there is an issue, which

is not something I did, I feel like there is no loyalty to me as a valued

customer. I have pretty much been told so far that no one is sure what can

be done and the only option is to pay off my current phone and get a new

one. Again, I did not ask for this upgrade which has messed up my phone.

Verizon store employees have verified that my now brick has no physical

damage and have talked to a tech for me. I have 3 lines on this account,

pay almost $200 per month for services, and if something cannot be done for

me within the next 24 hours this valued customer will take his business

elsewhere.

Being this is a forum, I obviously will not leave my phone number on here.

I am sure my information can be looked up by Verizon knowing that I have a

NC 336 phone# and the last for digits are 8918 plus my name.

Sincerely,

Jerome Babor

I am also having horrible issues on my LG G3 after the latest software update yesterday morning (3/30/16). I am completely unable to use my phone today.  Issues I've noticed:

  • It is now on it's 4th round of "Android is starting...optimizing app # of ###....." for the day.  It is constantly restarting on it's own, going from the red Verizon startup screen to this optimizing app screen.
  • Prior to this (yesterday) I also noticed issues with the SD card where it will un-mount, eject and then remount itself constantly.  I checked the SD card and it looks to be securely in place.
  • In between all the restarts, I've noticed my settings get changed back to the default settings.  My sound and display profiles do not stay on my own choices.

I would really appreciate it if Verizon or anyone can help direct me to a way to fix these issues!

Thanks.

I’m sorry to hear these issues happened after the recent update, casperella. Software updates should be making the phone run smoothly. Let’s make sure everything gets resolved. Will your phone get past the application optimizing screen? Please share details.

Since these issues started right after the update we will want to first test it out in safe mode to see if the issue is related to an application not being optimized correctly. Please attempt these steps if your phone allows you to: http://vz.to/1KlNmWJ . Please keep us posted.

Hi AnthonyC_VZW,

Since my last post, my phone had finished optimizing the applications and has not started another round.  I was able to put it into safe mode.  I will keep it in safe mode for now, please let me know what my next steps are.

Thanks.

casperella,

Let's see if we can get this up and running again. We know how important a functioning phone is.While the phone is in safe mode, can you check your phone's apps for available updates in the Google Play Store and complete any available? Let us know.
