What is the exact version you were able to upgrade to? Supposedly, the bad upgrade was paused until a fix came out. Maybe the fix is in!

One other important detail - make sure the phone is charged and unplugged when this is attempted, otherwise the factory screen will not be accessible.

This is the currently active 10/9/2020 update (15 I think) I don't have the phone available any more to check. There has been no update "fix" or update to the update, still just the original.
