My partner and I have 2 brand new LG Lucid 2s we upgraded to in June.
They have been great phones until the update in July. Since then they both have issues with the Media Scanner. Any time either phone is rebooted the Media Scanner runs constantly. While the Media Scanner is running we can not access our Gallery photos, or Camera.
The first time I just let them both run for two days before I tried to reset them. I've tried several things.
I've removed the SD Cards. Rebooted. Media Scanner still runs constantly.
I've moved all photos and videos from both phones to our PCs. Rebooted. Media Scanner still runs constantly.
I've shut down the program via the Apps/All and it didn't work. Rebooted, and the Media Scanner fires back up.
When I right click on the "Scanning Media Files" at the top and click App Info it takes me to the System UI page. I try Force Stop, and while that makes the icon disappear from the top, the Scanner is still running because I can't access my gallery or camera.
I've tried using various Apps from the play store with no success.
The only time I can get the Media Scanner to stop is if I reboot, then pull out the SD Card. The Scanner stops, and I reinsert the card. The only problem with this is if I take any new photos with the camera or download any photos from Facebook, the new images do not appear in the Gallery.
So I downloaded an App to start the scanner manually, but the same thing happens and I'm stuck in a loop again.
I don't believe this issue is with a specific SD card since BOTH phones are doing the exact same thing, and it only started in July after the last update.
The constant Media Scanner running is a huge drain on the batteries of both phones too.
It's been well over a month now, and I'm tired of troubleshooting the issue myself, and I'm extremely frustrated.
Any suggestions or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks you!

It's been 10 days since I posted this. I would have expected a response from a Verizon Tech by now. I'm very disappointed.
Here's an update. One of the phones is working fine now. When rebooted the Media Scanner runs and is complete in just a minute or two.
The other phone is not fine. I pulled the SD Card out of it. When I reboot, the Media Scanner continues to get stuck. Two days ago it was stuck at 33% all day. Yesterday it was stuck at 66% all day. It continues to run the battery down.
This is very frustrating. I would appreciate a response from Verizon with a recommendation on how to fix this.
