LG V40 bluetooth issues

I just got the LG V40 and bluetooth is giving me lots of problems. It can pair with my car (2017 Hyundai Elantra) as a new device with no problem, but the next time I get into my car, it refuses to pair and I have to delete the pairing and then connect as a new device again. I have to do this every time I get into my car now. I know it's not the car because my previous phone (HTC 10) had no such problem, it connected reliably every time I got in the car. Is LG's bluetooth really this bad?
