I can't figure out how to empty the trash basket on my Vortex and I have > 1000 messages and growing. That can't be good. Can't find anything about in manual or on line. I delete the message from phone email and it still keeps coming back. I have seen the same question on blogs and nobody seems to have an answer. Thanks

Thanks to the community members for your input. Adding to what was stated, you could try deleting the emails messages while online with your computer and your phone available to check if the deleting process is working correctly depending on what email service your using. You could also try checking if your doing the syncing process to have both your device and your computer matching up with what you want deleted from your trash folder.

When I go into folders, I see a "trash can" and it says I have 1083 items, at the moment but no way to select anything that lets me empty the trash can, except one by one.
I try to keep my email on pc cleaned up and trash emptied often, same on the phone. Items on phone trash can keep building up and keep coming back to phone "email" ..... you have 15 new messages.......

Unfortunately t here isn't an option to select all email in a particular folder.... If you delete them on your PC and then Sync the phone to your PC they should be purged there as well.... Isn't this happening? Which email service are you using?

I keep my "trash" emptied on my pc and those messages don't come back (reappear). I delete "read" emails as well on the phone, they go to the trash bin. The trash bin keeps getting more and more full. There is still over 1000 messages in trash and they seem to be spilling over because they are now coming back to my email on the phone but not on pc. I use hotmail, phone carrier is verizon. I am a new-be at all this stuff, sorry. C

Here is some information about how to connect your LG Vortex to your Computer. Before using your device's mass storage capabilities, you need to prepare your device's data services to synchronize with your desktop or laptop computer. Once you have connected the device to the computer, you can transfer your data to or from the Micro SD card.
To connect your device to a computer via USB:
1. Use the USB cable that came with your phone to connect the phone to a USB port on your computer.
2. Open the Notifications panel, and then touch USB Connection Mode.
3. Touch the connection mode you want to connect to the PC as.
Choose from the following options: Windows MediaSync, Modem mode, or Mass storage mode.
When the device is connected as USB storage, you receive a notification. Your device's Micro SD card is mounted as a removable drive on your computer. You can now copy files to and from the micro SD card. For more information, see the documentation for your computer. During this time, you will not be able to access the Micro SD card in your device, so you can't use applications that rely on the Micro SD card, such as Camera, Gallery, and Music.

I have the same issue with deleting the emails in trash folder for my hotmail account. I had gotten my phone in December and was getting low memory messages and went to a Verizon store for a solution. I had 1700 emails that I thought were deleted, but were now in "trash", but no "delete all" option. The folks at the store did not know any option.
I deleted all one by one (and went from 14 MB to 65MB, which solved the memory problem) and have been doing this ever since. Does anyone know of a way to "empty the trash" without having to select each individual message?

Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately this phone does not have an option to delete all emails from the trash folder. I have lifted this information up to our product team for a suggestion.

this can not be correct can it? I have thousands of trash emails eating up memory. Do you seriously mean i have to delete them one at a time? Why isn't this indicated before selling me the phone? This is not a minor design flaw, this is huge. Are there no aftermarket apps to fix this? How about LG or Verizon writing one? Obviously I am frustrated.

Agreed- this is the most ridiculous design flaw ever. I have 2800 messages and "low memory" notices. Wish I had the three hours it will take me to delete each message, one by one. Disgusting.

In trying to erase the trash: First time took it in to Verizon shop and they had to wipe it clean and reload the program. Second time, I was on phone for 2 HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! with Verizon tech when phone crashed and burned after the first Verizon tech I talked to gave me wrong info. I can hardly wait til my contract allows me to get new phone!!!.

Someone really needs to get this fixed. I spend valuable time each day deleting individual messages from my trash folder. Also have problems with messages coming back to my inbox after being deleted. It is now Sept 2011--has this been fixed yet?

Have you tap on the trash can if yes then tap on the left side of the screen where the box with a check mark in it and it should turn green keep doing that until you get to the last email and then tap the delete button and that will empty your trash can.

I had the same problem. Open the folders list, do a long tap on the folder name and click "Refresh". It will take a while but it will delete all of them eventually, provided the web mailbox is empty. You can do it to any of the folders listed.
