Locked out of facinate

Someone got into our son's Facinate and tried to unlock it by a pattern.  It now says on the screen too many logon attempts and will not let anyone go into the phone.  How do we bypass it?

Does it ask for the gmail address and password associated with the phone? Have you tried entering that?

Other than that your only recourse is a hard reset of the phone from the recovery screen. Unfortunately I have no idea how to get there on a Fascinate. Hopefully someone else here knows how to do it. That or a call to CS or a trip to a Verizon is needed.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I doubt it allows bypass; I understand that incorrect attempts increase the time allowed to unlock.  So waiting a while before attempting the correct screen unlock pattern should work.

Hello amberlynn96! You can process a factory reset of the Fascinate by following these steps:

Turn off the phone

Press and hold the Volume Up / Down keys and the Power button simultaneuously. When the Samsung logo appears, release only the Power button.
Display will show:
a. Reboot system Now
b. Apply sdcard:update.zip
c. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
d. Wipe Cache Partition

From the Recovery screen, press the Volume down key to select "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", press home icon to select option and wipe device.
Display shows "All user data will be wiped out", press VOLUME Up to continue or VOLUME Down to exit.
Press Volume Up
Press Home to select "Reboot System Now" - device will reboot

Your only recourse is to go to a Verizon store. They have the PUK for your phone and can reset it. And yes, you can not do a factory reset since you can't get into your phone. And yes, once the phone is locked, there is nothing you can do to get back in, except let Verizon unlock it for you. I forget what the PU stand for, but K is for Key. It's much like a PIN. Good luck.

Mortb it stands for Pin Unlock Key (PUK) but I am not sure that this will work on the phones personal security code, I believe this is intended to unlock the SIM...   http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=285

The easiest method is to input the users email and password into the device to unlock the device again and also I think that Ann is correct and you can hard reset the device and restore the device to a working state without unlocking but the user will use all data that wasn't backed up before the reset process..
