upgraded my phone today to a Google Pixel 2 today. After telling the rep that I wanted to keep my old phone so I made sure to keep my stuff he assured me that he could get all my pitures , contacts, apps and everything transferred over to my new phone. And I would save some money if I let him do this and let them take my phone. Hesntly I agreed as he appeared to know what he was talking about. I should have known better, and went with my original plan. He started the update transfer on to my new phone. Showed me how some things started to transfer. Then went and cleared / reset my old phone. Then told me that my new phone would take some time to download all my stuff. Gave me his card and told me if I have any questions to call. I left and went home. The phone finally finished updating and I looked at it. So now I'm missing some of my contacts still. ALL of my photo's are gone. And my apps that has some data I needed out of them are missing too. I drove straight back to the store and talked to my sales man. He and the others with him could not figure out how to pull any recovery from my old phone. They called in to some Help desk and still could not figure it out. I was there for quite some time still with not solutions. Only that well I'm sorry .... I'M SORRY !!! REALLY.... I only get my kids 2 times a year as they live out of the country, I have / or had over 2 years of Pictures from time with them on there. This is the reason I didn't trust trading in my phone in the first place. But I trusted in your employee. All I want is my memories back. Can anyone help....

What was the old phone model? Did you use Google to backup your photos and contacts and applications?
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Galaxy S6, I didn't do anything to the phone. I just used it, so I don't know if the phone did auto back ups or not. I'm guessing not since I'm not able to find anything. The employee who the transfer and deletion said that it was all backed up. However, again does not appear so.

I would first go to the Cloud app on the device and see if when you select all of the items to "back up" and then select "back up now" if the items selected were in fact backed up here. If the cloud was active it is possible it did an auto backup.
If this doesn't provide a restoration, your next option would be to log into Google+ and Google Drive as again-- there is the possibility for autobackups here as well.
Generally though, it is up to you to back up YOUR data on YOUR device-- you really can't blame anyone else for this (even if there was rep error involved, you always have to plan for this or something similar). At any time, your device could fail to power on or have all data wiped as this IS technology and a digital form of your data/information with no "physical copy" residing with you to fall back on.
Always back up what is important to you, and back it up in more than one location and method (Cloud and computer/thumb drive or flash drive etc.)
Best of luck

I still don't get was people with supposedly "precious" and "valuable" photos/document do no regally back them up. There are many free cloud services and they are easy to use. Anything can happen to a phone at anytime so why risk losing that stuff if it's so important?

Most people assume that everything is stored somewhere and they will always be able to access. as it should be when we pay for our accounts.

SjGD23 I'm so sorry you lost your pictures. We do provide cellular/data service, and we try our best to help with any questions you may have. We offer products for you to backup and save your information. Is there a reason you did not use the Verizon Cloud or any other service to save your information?

I’ve tried 3 different ways to back up my device and can’t get all the information off of it. The cloud service and downloading onto the phone is the only option to actually retrieve your data fully.
