My LG G3 battery is draining rapidly after the Lollipop update! Any tips?

Ever since the Lollipop update my notification sound has turned off and my battery is draining rapidly. Whereas I would previously be at 78% at the end of the evening, my battery is draining to 0% in a few hours with hardly any activity. Reading a single news article will now grab 20-25% of the battery power. My phone is virtually useless. My daughter is having identical problems on her LG G3 but my husband escaped unscathed with zero issues on his.

Is the only solution a factory reset? That is so much work I don't even want to contemplate it.

I was having the same issue and had to factory reset my phone to get back to normal battery life. However, now my social media apps will not update on WiFi. I have to turn WiFi off just to see the latest on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Very annoying and sucking up my data usage.
