NEXUS PRIME? - ICE CREAM SANDWICH?

By now most of you would have heard about the new Samsung Nexus (Prime?) phone that's likely to join VZW stable. One of the rumor that is doing rounds in various forums is that Ice Cream Sandwich (the next Android version) had features that would have attracted patent law suits therefore it been pulled back for remediation prior to launching the phone. That said, with no additional information relating to launch date, it appears that death of Steve Jobs could have been a good excuse for Samsung and Google to have pulled back the launch on moral grounds. Any thoughts out there?

Samsung says it was put of respect but that's hypocritical, so don't buy the Jobs excuse. Samsung has been kicking a beehive outside Apple stores, harassing people waiting in lines. Trying to get iphone enthusiasts to switch to Samsung, by offering the SGS II for only $ 2 + contract. Only concern I have w/ the Galaxy Nexus, release is that VZW took it as limited time period exclusive. If they settled on the (SCH model #), ICS 4.0, dual 1.2ghz processor & 5mp cam specs, as reported. Only to release another one, the real Nexus Prime(GT model #) ICS 4.0, w/ dual 1.5ghz, 8mp cam onto other carriers shortly thereafter. I'm done w/ VZW if they get a watered down version of the Nexus powerhouse. Based on their track record, it doesn't look promising cuz VZW has managed to botch every "exclusive" phone, they ever carried.

Sumdude, I don't think you quite know what you are talking about with regard to Samsung's actions of late. In fact, Samsung has responded in kind to the flurry of lawsuits launched by Apple against them, as well as several other communications companies for one reason or another. As for limited availability of the Nexus Prime (or whatever the hell they wind up calling that thing), please state your official source of that information, as well as the other assertions you have made in your post. Otherwise, you are nothing more than trolling traffic around here. Geri O

I'm very aware of what Samsungs been up to, in response to Apples accusations & vice versa. For all their complaints w/ one another, it was rather amicable, no one really rocked the boat. Which is why that story about the Samsung retail employees strolling down in front of an Apple store in AUS where they tried to sway Apple customers after the 4S announcement, by offering a deal on an unlocked SGS II, sans contract for $2 dollars. Samsung tried to make nice w/ Apple, they didn't budge. So they made this bold move to sell Sammies goods in AUS, come hell or high water. However, I did err in reporting details correctly in the original post. That story can be found over on intomobile.com or the Sydney Morning Herald. Everything else I mentioned can be easily found and viewed over @ Engadget.com or any one of the million other tech. sites reporting & speculating on all this crap. I find it hard to believe that you stay up to date to follow the legal briefings of Apple vs World. Yet you have not come across any of the info. I mentioned in that post, yourself. That's comical bit if that makes me a troller, so be it.

Looking at the nerd sites I'm always on it looks like people are expecting this gsm/cdma device to release in October on Verizon making it an "exclusive" device at first, then opening it up to other carriers. I myself have doubts on this theory. I have a friend that's a "tester" for Verizon and states this phone has not even been seen yet. Not that it isn't real! No tester has tested it yet. He/She that I know says it takes 1-3 months to test a device on vzw before it gets approved. So this leaves me to believe that it'll be released on some gsm networks that don't test so much first. I think it's important to Google that this phone be on Verizon because of it's fast network. Whatever the outcome may be for this device I want it and I'll be the first in line for one.

All the people and testers I've talked to state this phone will more than likely be Q1 of 2012. Google will do a little flashdance this month out in Hong Kong and build the hype up like they normally do. Then by Q1 next year it'll finally be on all networks.

Galaxy Nexus I heart you

Here is some info on this phone for you new to this device and want to learn. It's quick info I pulled off some sites.

Ice Cream Sandwich Android Ver 4.0

Don't link me to that site please, I just used to for the info.

You may be right about that in terms of release dates but keep in mind that this was Googles project, privacy & secrecy was a huge factor throughout development because of ICS. Things likely occurred differently than in the past. I say this because it's reportedly been spotted inside the walls of VZW, in the hands of one or more employees, several months back. I also read that, back in August I believe, Google delivered a batch of "testers" to VZW. So who knows when it'll arrive, but it's alive & well. So I have a tendencey to believe it'll arrive sooner than Q1 of '13.

I take it back. My friend told me they started testing today with a release date of early/mid Nov.
I'm really excited now! This is good news.

VZW is expecting above average numbers for the G-Nex release. If you account for the fact that Oct. 27, is the first date of pre-orders for the new Razr. That rumored 11/10 date is likely to be the first eligible date for taking pre-orders of the SG-Nex. I hope that's not the case, but VZW almost always does a pre-order period for their "exclusive" phones before it arrives in retail stores.
