My Galaxy S5 tells me I need a new Sim Card for an app but when I try to get one Verizon says none available.  I have a new unused one but it is over a year old- would it work?

Just go into a Verizon Corp Store and request a sim card (they are free in VZW Corp Store).

An unused one would work as well as an old one that was on your account.  They are free online and in store.  Just go to support and chat with an agent and give them your unused SIM number and device IMEI and they can activate online.
