Hey Everyone,
I will be leaving Sprint and planning on moving to Verizon in the next week or so. I am getting a Nexus 6P and now worried that I won't be able to get a sim card for the device. Any ideas when this will be possible?
Thanks!

No one using a new Nexus yet? Is this possible on Verizon?

As of now, Nexus 5x and 6p are not certified by the Verizon and you wont't be able to get the sim card for them. There are some messy round about way of getting the activated sim card, if you are willing. Check following site.

I have contacted 2 Verizon stores regarding this. I almost did not buy a 6p because of the jaequwan post. Both stores informed me there will be no problem installing a sim card in my 6p when I get it. Both stores were at different cities in Wisconsin. Don't know if that matters. They also informed me I can always just buy a sim card for 25 dollars if that issue ever came up. Buy your 6p and enjoy it.

You shouldn't have to buy a SIM. Those are free for customers at Verizon Corporate Stores. 3rd part retailers charge money for SIM cards.

This is the one Android device that could make me switch from an iPhone.

I have to say, this phone is awesome... super happy with my purchase. It's fast, the fingerprint reader is very fast and works great and the stereo speakers sound great too. Of course the screen looks amazing. I didn't think I would like the larger size coming from a Nexus 5 but starting to feel it's really the perfect size overall. Wife has a 6S and it's great too for the appleheads.

I particularly like the "Pure" aspect of Android on the Nexus line. Plus updates come from Google, not Verizon. I remember waiting for the Cyan update for my Lumia Icon and after hearing "in testing phase" for several months it was finally announced that Verizon would SKIP Cyan altogether and just wait for Denim. Oy vey, that was frustrating!

Or for 7 you could buy a sim card cutter and cut a regular down to a nano if they won't give you one for free

Just activate it with an active SIM, if the same size and then you are good to go. If the SIM is a different size, then get a free correct-size SIM from a Verizon Corp Store.

You should head over to Howard Forums and read Howard's hands-on review of the Nexus 6p. There are some overheating issues that worry me. This is the first Android phone that could make me ditch my iPhone, but not until all the issues are settled.

The overheating 810 story is well documented. I also read that the new 820's are overheating (not documented). The architecture on these chips is the issue. Its killing Qualcomm and not doing their OEM's any favor either. Google any of this and you will find plenty to read. I wanted an LG G4 but I picked one up in a Verizon store and it was HOT just sitting there charging. That was an 808 chip. I talked to a Motorola rep last week for over an hour and he hinted that they may have tamed the heat issues. So ill take the chance on the 6p. The best way to avoid the current generation chip fiasco is get an IPhone. But I like the price of the 6p and just use my phone as a phone. So if I'm going to get a phone that overheats and they pretty much all do now. Going to get what I want. Decent price, good phone, stock android. If I wasn't rocking an LG spectrum that is blue screening right now I would wait until next year.

just make sure when you walk in the vz store you know how to locate the imei. I have the nexus 6p, which was activate yesterday, my s4 didn't have a nano card... big catch....when they activated tell the rep to activate locally and mines worked within minutes. make sure they scan the back of the phone.

Yep...pop that SIM in there and you're good to go, but make sure it works before you leave the store.
