No Gingerbread according to Verizon

So according to a Verizon Rep i spoke with last night there will be no Gingerbread update for the Droid Charge. The tech i spoke with said there were too many bugs for them to push 2.3 out to the Charge. And interestingly enough the tech said he had never heard of Ice Cream Sandwich.

So sounds to me like neither Verizon or Samsung knows what's going on. Just a suggestion. Get your act together. Customers deserve better. Verizon..you have lost one.

The thing is even though most of us on this forum know the upgrades by name and what they added, I would suspect less than .5% of all subscribers care or even know about upgrades.

Not only that, Bud, but those other 99.5% are probably more concerned with a phone that works reliably and when and where they want it to. A hard lesson that I have learned over the past month with that confounded Bionic.

To each his own, of course...

If you're stuck w/ Froyo on your Charge. Consider rooting and flashing to a Gingerbread build. I kinda see why the aren't pushing out OTA to 2.3 for that phone. Everytime they have done so recently, it's fixed a few bugs, but created several new ones in the process. Google released new builds faster than manufacturers can keep up. ICS should help alleviate that issue, once it's in place. They should've focused on a universal build from day one, rather than issue several, in sucession, w/ minor tweaks. That's why Apple isn't plagued by sketchy updates.

I have heard of no one with the Charge getting an update. And I've thought about rooting mine but then of course the warranty is void. I'm about ready to switch to the iPhone. At least i could get any accessory i want.

That is certainly something to consider.
