I have a Pixel and experienced the same problem with the Oreo update. From where you make calls tap the three dots to the right of the search bar, tap settings, tap voicemail, turn visual voicemail on then back off and it should fix the problem.

Which phone model do you have? Are you subscribed to the basic non-visual voicemail or a visual voicemail?

I have the Nexus 6p, and was on the basic voicemail. Everything was fine
until the Oreo upgrade. Then it went off line. Like a call comes in, and
leaves a message, I have no idea it's there..

With the Oreo update, I would suggest checking the dialer application to see if the voicemail was incorporated into the application like it is with the Pixel phones.
Otherwise I would manually dial into the voicemail system and check the settings or preferences to see if the notification was turned off.
I would also check your MyVerizon account online to verify which voicemail service you subscribed to on the off chance it is different from what you expect.

Ok thank you, I will give it a look see later...I tried to access my
account to see on the phone, but didn't see anything different. Why I need
to check with a laptop this day and age baffles me, but I will check that
Ave. As well. Thanks for your time and help...

I can access my account through the phone as long as I select the desktop view of the site to force it to display everything I expect.

Hello,
Not sure if you are still interested, but I managed to verify that ;
A) visual voicemail off (account+ ph)
B) hd voice off. (Account +pH)
I can't think of anything else to check..
Thx..

Hi,
I got the fix, from a pixel user if you're interested, it sounds dumb, but
worked out on the first try. Open the phone app, go to settings, toggle the
visual voicemail switch, on -off, and it works. I just verified it was off,
as with everything else.
Thanks,
Rob

I kind of remember the Pixels might have had a similar situation when they were first released.
Since I prefer to use the basic non-visual voicemail, it didn't occur to me to turn on and off the voicemail setting to get the notifications working after the Oreo update. I still had my voicemail notifications after the update.

Visual voicemail is off. On the dialer app. So my last check would be on
the account side, I will take a look at it on the lap top later,
Thanks..

Hi,
I have been beating my head trying to check this, and check that. Called
them, we tried everything again. I did what you said and BAM ..
Automatically put the VM icon up.
Thanks so much!

This didn't work for me because visual voicemail isn't an option in the voicemail settings. I don't know what to do to make it work. (I have a galaxy note 9)

We certainly want you to be able to review your voicemails. I know that I rely on my voicemail a lot especially during the work day when I can't answer my phone. What steps did you take with this Dubi13? What do you see when you go into settings?

We are here to help with any concerns you have about your Voicemail notifications, bubu40. Allow us to gather more information to be on the same page. When was the last time you received a notification for your voicemail? What changed with your phone before the notifications stopped?

Another unlocked Motorola One Action checking in with the problem. Don't know when it stopped working.
Android 10 (upgraded from 9 a few weeks ago)
Prepaid plan
Stock phone dialer
Notifications set to show
Did the turn on/off Visual Voicemail trick, rebooted.
Changing my voicemail greeting to indicate that notifications don't work.

I would like to try your solution, but the notifications toggle switch is set to "On", but is also greyed-out/dimmed, and not responsive to a change when I tap on it!?
Why would it be like that? I do use Do No Disturb from 11pm till 7; 30am, but turn it off manually before 7:30 most days, and since it's off , can't see how that could a reason not to get notifications of new voicemail messages, but I never get notified!
Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks.
