So let's start a pool as to when we will get this elusive update. Before Thanksgiving, before Christmas, by New Years, by Valentines day 2016 or three weeks after Samsung Pay is obsolete.

If Samsung Pay is obsolete in a short time then it wasn't adopted as widely as people in this thread claim. Just some food for thought.

I think you misunderstood that comment. It refers to Samsung Pay becoming obsolete years or decades from now, or when Samsung Pay is replaced by a better version/system. Thus Verizon would finally approve it three weeks after the issue no longer matters.

Sure sure they said it's coming. They came to an agreement. Have fun with it. It isn't all the hoopla. Yes I have it and yes I rarely use it. Doesn't work 100% of the time and it's a hassle explaining how it works.

Very well said. The Samsung guy tweeted "A week or so." and now Verizon sends out, "In the near future". Verizon "evaluated" Samsung Pay a long time ago, as did all of the other carriers. They were most likely trying to find a way to buy time and create some app of their own that could integrate somehow with the MST hardware in the phones. Then it would have been "Let's screw the VZW customers and make them use our app instead where we charge a behind the scenes fee." Then they had to realize that lawsuits would follow from Samsung.
Just as in my previous posts, the higher ups have already had the numbers worked and had to make sure they could benefit largely from releasing Samsung Pay to customers. They have programmers that work for them full time and it is unnecessary for us to still be waiting on a firmware release.
I wish we all had enough money where we could potentially lose a few million dollars and not really give a damn as Verizon does. Gone are the days when most large companies care about the voice of even one customer, even if it doesn't cost them a dime. I am sure there is a team that works for VZW whose job is to check public relations and forums such as these and then report back their findings. The issue is there really aren't enough of us around in entirety for Verizon to care one way or the other.
What would really be nice, would be the other carriers having equal or better reception than VZW and then they'd really be concerned if customers threatened to leave. I am not leaving because of that reason, but Verizon should be embarrassed that customers have to enter a forum to voice their opinions and concerns about Verizon. Even the negative publicity isn't getting them to move any faster and that should be of concern to anyone.
AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and other carriers should be salivating at the mouth right about now just waiting for potential customers to show up on their doorsteps.
However all of this plays out, Verizon may not be able to do enough damage control to repair their reputation. Sad part is, people tend to have selective memory and forget what they want to forget. Either way, it is way overdue for us to have Samsung Pay, and not providing even a small amount of information or details in unacceptable.
Thanks Verizon for yet another screw up.

I Partly agree, Verizon may be trying to make a buck, or save a buck, or just integrate somehow.
It is unlikely it is all in the interest of the customers. But I don't think they are solely intending to screw the customers.
Of course if Verizon would be more vocal on the subject, this would be a non-issue.

So I see that it is finally coming in a software update. Is there a date for said roll out or even a rumor. If we get it and can verify a card by October 11 Samsung will send us one of their high speed wireless chargers. That is Sunday. Think we can get it before that? I am doubtful and that means not only waiting for the main reason I got this device but also missing out on a truly awesome promotion connected to it.

They will not send you the fast charging wireless charger... It's their lower one. It's been verified that it isn't the fast charger.

I thought the same thing initially then I asked because I wanted to make sure.
The items offered in the promo are the same price. If it was the fast charger which is $30 more then everyone would have gotten that. At least they are "free"

We couldn't have left Verizon not right now, but this and the plan changes, still no FM radio, and the coverage has gone downhill has made me disappointed that we came back here instead of one of the other carriers. Not that any of them are much better.

Yeah my wife says that the other carriers don't reach inside her office at work and their wifi is terrible. So things like wifi calling don't help. TMobile had dead spots in our area in very inconvenient locations for me for the things I was doing when I was on it (Spotify and Maps). Sprint made me angry in a lot of ways. I generally liked AT&T when I was with them. The only reason I left was because at the time I was really only using about 10 minutes a month and less than a gig of data. I was on wifi at work and recently divorced. I wasn't getting many phone calls. I still don't I prefer text exchanges and mostly use Hangouts for that because I didn't want to port my Google Voice number to my phone and it is the one most people have. Besides I can use the app on my work computer and not have to be looking at my phone when I get a text.
Anyway, that is what I meant. If it were entirely up to me I would have probably gone back to AT&T instead of Verizon when we left Sprint. Yet my wife says CDMA networks work better for her work (though I am not sure she knew which uses CDMA and which is GSM she just said Sprint and Verizon get in to the building and TMobile and AT&T don't). I am still not sure I use my phone enough to justify how much it costs me. Also I am finding just as many deadzones personally as I did with Sprint and AT&T. TMobile I have heard has expanded their network in our area but even their maps show the spots where I had issues. I think it is because the LTE networks are still not quite as wide spread yet.

That could just be tower placement more than anything, and not the technology.

It is more about the bands I believe. The CDMA carriers bought different bands than the GSM carriers. Of course that is all data. I imagine the call networks have basically used the same technology and bands as they have for like 10 years. It may have to do with tower placement but around here they tend to use the same towers for the most part and everyone buys or leases space for their equipment. I am sure there is some difference I know Verizon has towers in more places (at least 3G). So I am not sure the reason only that she said no to AT&T because she needs to be able to use her phone from her office. I never had a problem with it but I tend to be closer to the outside walls.

Topography plays a huge role. distance of tower + topography can be the difference of 5 bars vs. 1 bar with just 1/2 mile. Sometimes carriers have a prime spot and it will work better there, but get denied for various reasons(sometime anti-competitive movement).
For example new Yankee stadium cause problems for a lot of people who lived in the area. Part of the deal was for carriers to be able to put addition towers on Yankee stadium to help with coverage as stadiums can and often cause a Faraday cage scenario.
