Interesting article. But we VZW customers don't have to worry about it. Right? After all, VZW is usually last in sending out an OS update because of their extensive testing which is supposed to prevent those problems.
Or, does VZW care more about the newest OS update not "breaking" their network and to hell with the phone(s)?

Easy big guy, I read your sarcasm....and agree that they are slow when its a good update and too fast when its a bad one.

Exactly I will not buy from Verizon my next phone for the reason of slow updates. It is frustrating to see other carriers and users with this phone enjoying the new lollipop update and we are stuck just waiting.

Buy the phone for what it PRESENTLY is, not what it MIGHT be. No guarantees on updates and if the phone works...you got what you paid for.

I know I have said the same thing, on my last two phones, but I find myself back in the same boat, again, complaining about Verizon dragging their feet, putting out upgrades late and then the issues we have when they finally release the butchered up version that we get. I hate this, Verizon is the only company that has clear service where I live, but they are the worst when it comes to upgrades.

Honestly 5.1 is what we should be hoping for, it has more fixes, better battery life, and more features than 5.0. But fat chance I guess. The VS985 leaked Lollipop image (23a) sucked a lot, so I bet Verizon is testing the Beta ROM extensively before reasling the OTA. Should be soon though since 23b is much more stable. Well folks. I bit the bullet and downloaded 5.0 and guess what? So far so good. Wifi is working just fine. I even noticed it unmounted the sd card. Whether or not i was supposed to unmount it before the download i don't know.
I'm still exploring my phone to see what enhancements 5.0 brings to my phone. I'll keep all of you posted on this thread.

I want to know what you are doing different that all of us that are now having battery drain issues.
I know I'm a power user, but the battery drain issue seems to be a common complaint. If you're not seeing it, I want to know what you're doing different.

5.01 ran great on the G3 when I ran it, but it wasn't syncing the notifications correctly. Thankfully its really easy to flash the official stock image back to 12B baseband (KitKat) - I miss Lollipop a lot already lol - I guess I still have to wait for the bug free release lol

Updated to 5.0.1 the other day and what a mistake. The battery life is horrible. Drains so fast and charge time thru the USB is so slow. I did a factory restore and same issue. This needs a fix ASAP or I want a battery replacement sent to me for free. I will need 2 batteries just to get thru a day..
