I need a new cell phone as Verizon and Google have hacked my LG V20 so badly it barely works.
As phones without removable batteries are useless bricks, what else is there?

We all rely on our phones to meet our mobile needs, alandlord. Many of us miss the โremovable battery days.โ Whatโs going on with the phone that leads you to believe itโs been โhacked?โ When did it start happening? In other words, what exactly do you mean by โit barely works?โ

You guys continue to make software changes that make this phone worse and worse to use. The android operating system now is far worse than the original system this phone had when i bought it. In chrome the keyboard shuts down on me while typing. The volume has gotten lower and lower. And now i have ads that pop up all the time.
Bottom line this thread is about removable batteries. Any phone without one is a useless brick.

I own an LG V20, and sadly...That is The LAST Flagship phone that will be made with a removable battery. Manufacturers have learned from Apple, that creating phones with removable batteries decrease their phone sales and profits, because consumers tend to keep their old phones longer if they can simply replace the battery when it goes bad as opposed to buying a new phone.
The current issues you're experiencing with updating your phone software are THE EXACT Reason why I NEVER do any phone updates. I will occasionally update my phone app software, but I NEVER update my phone's Operational Software. Because updates almost always cause some type of aggravating technical issue.
My advice to you; purchase a Verizon Unlocked LG V20 (Great Phone!!) at Amazon.com for $349, and NEVER do another OS Upate....Again!! Android 7.0/Nougat works perfectly. I've been using mine for years now with No: Malware, Hacking or any other issues....Hope This Helps..

OS updates are forced. How would you NOT do them? They are FORCED on your phone.

It's true, updates are forced to you phone by your phone carrier. But you still have to press the button on your phone to ALLOW the update to download onto your phone. The Answer is Simple.....Don't Press The Button!....And you won't get the Update!

That would not be a forced update.
There is no reason NOT to allow updates.
If your LG is junk after an update (seriously LG is junk before it gets any updates), it's not the update at fault. LG released half million V20s through Verizon. Some other brand and models sold even more. When only a few are faulty after an update, you cannot blame the update or the entire phone line.
I have been dealing with sealed back phones since the Samsung galaxy S6 came out. I have not had a single update problem with any phone

The last truly good LG phone was the LG G3. Every phone since then has had significant issues. Each one has shot high, and yet has fallen far short. The company's reputation has slipped substantially in all departments, including major appliances, which people are warned not to buy because they will not get warranty service in the United States. Their mobile devices are getting maybe three or four updates per year, where is Samsung issues security updates almost every month. Aside from the software problems there have been a regular issues with hardware.
LG losses Continue, sales fall
Your complaint about software updates ruining the phone might go away if you were using another brand.

I'm a junkie in that department. I own a pixel 4 XL, a Palm, a Samsung A50, and a 1+ 6t. (Those are just mine).
I have not owned an LG mobile device in years. The G3 was ahead of its time. It's been down hill since then.
Now ask me about Motorola. They went to ๐ฉ when Lenovo took over.
I've had a dozen Samsung phones since the S3, never a problem with the brand.
Ive had each generation of Pixel and 2 1+ phones.

https://www.vox.com/2017/12/22/16807056/apple-slow-iphone-batteries
Dear mama23dogs: Udates are not always a supposed Good Thing. Do you remember the Iphone Scandle of 2017?...Which involved Apple manipulating their software updates which caused the batteries on older iPhones to charge slowly. This tactic caused iphone users to become frustrated with slow charging of their older iphones and made them buy newer iPhones. See attached Link for info..
I haven't used any of the older model LG phones. But I can tell you that the V20 (released in 2016) is an AMAZING Phone and is comparable to current phones on the market today. The Samsung Galaxy Fold and The LG G8X Thin-Q are only current phones that I would consider trading in my V20 for...Since I wasn't paying $2000 for a Galaxy Fold, i opted to buy The G8X Thin-Q on sale for $700
I still don't really understand your issue with LG Phones...But you previously stated that you've owned every model of Google Pixel Phone...Just letting you know that the Google Pixel 2XL was designed and created by LG. Google is software manufacturer and doesn't design their own phones.
I can see that you like The Pixel and One Plus Phones, but in my opinion...Any android phone that doesnt have expandle storage is Utterly USELESS!! If I wanted a phone without expandable storage, then I'd buy an IPhone. Now you and others my argue that you can still store you info in the cloud. But what if you're in a Dead Zone and have no cellular service or Internet; how do you get access to the cloud?!? Theyre also security concerns with the cloud. What if there's a Data Breach and your personal photos and documents get leaked to the Internet. If you had a phone with expandable storage, you personal info would be saved on an SD Card; therefore avoiding the issues I stated.
As I stated earlier, this my personal opinion on The Pixel and One Plus Phones...If my concerns aren't an issue for you....Then, feel free to continue buying those phone...

No. The update is forced. I'm not pressing a button every day to put it off one day just so the next day I get the same harassing message.

What are you people talking about? This is MY thread about the need for a new phone with a removable battery and headphone jack. Anything without those is a brick.

Verizon does not make phones. Complain to the manufacturers. The only phones with removable batteries are the few budget priced prepaid phones. (Moto e5 go and flip phones for example)
Flagship devices are sealed.
I disagree that a sealed back phone is a brick. Batteries can be replaced, just not by the average user. In fact the new insurance programs have unlimited battery replacements included.
While I choose not to keep phones very long, other members of my family have had sealed back phones that work just fine for three or four years.

Omg. The phones are bricks because they do me no good. What can I do without a removable battery walking around disney World all day? Or a port in a foreign country?
I never said they wouldnt last for years. But they wont do me any good. I pull batteries often when my phone screws up. And this happens often. And just one battery won't last a day.
My LG V20 would be fine if it hadn't updated itself to becoming too slow and too many errors.

As I said before, LG V20 is last Flagship Phone with a removable battery, due to that feature not being profitable for phone manufacturers.....While I won't go as far as you, and call any phone without a removable battery a Brick...I do understand your issue..
Not sure why ignoring updates, is such a big deal for you; I've been doing it for years, with no problem. Whenever I see the popup notification for a software update: I simply ignore it. But if that doesn't work for you, you can go to the Google Playstore and download "Notification Blocker". This app will block any notification you choose, from poping up on your phone .....See attached Link Above..

Hello, alandlord. We are very sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing with your LG V20 device's keyboard not working correctly with Google Chrome, the volume, and pop-up adds. The software updates are not created by Verizon Wireless but are created by the manufacturer of the device. How long has this keyboard issue been happening with your Google Chrome app? Is the volume being affected using the overall audio of the device, phone calls, or both? BrettA_VZW

The volume is too low always. The keyboard issue has been going on for a long time. The continuous updating of the OS has worn this phone down.

Updates are meant to improve your phone not make it worse, Alandlord. I am sure we will figure this out together. Let us work on one issue at a time. How is your volume if you put your phone call on speakerphone? Has there been any physical or moisture damage to the device? Does your volume improve in a different area? Please tell me more.
