You know I was going to go through and change my number but I feel since Verizon says there is nothing they can do about people that use Restricted Numbers and controlling what they do once my phones are paid for I will be leaving Verizon and I have been a customer for several years now . I am used to getting 10 to 20 spam calls per day which my Google Assistant blocks most but today I received a call from a restricted number and the little &&&& wanted to speak to my wife and stated he was with the Police Department about a Warrant she had so I asked for his Badge Number and he started calling me names if Verizon can't protect my privacy they don't deserve my money any longer.

We're sorry to read that you're getting calls like this as they can be a danger to your security and information. Spam/ Scam callers are a problem that all mobile phone companies are trying to fight, and we do have an app that can help with these calls. You can download our free Call Filter app from the Play Store to help with reducing the number of these calls. Its not possible to eliminate all of these calls but Call Filter will help. There is a pay option that is optional that includes more features, but the basic app is free. Check it out here: https://www.verizon.com/solutions-and-services/call-filter/ ~Peter

10-20 spam calls a day is a LOT!  I am wondering if your information is floating around on the dark web.  Your phone is also very old, so it's possible it isn't fully updated because it doesn't support the latest software?  Crooks are always looking for ways to exploit loopholes in technology.

Crank up your Assistant Call Filter settings to max, then the only calls that get through are numbers in your Contacts app. You have to use Google Contacts for it to work. But that should block about 99% of spam calls.

I'm not sure what you think Verizon can do to stop this? if you switch carriers you will still get some spam calls. Version, AT&T, T-Mobile can help, just like Assistant Call Filtering can help, but nothing can stop them 100% (except turning off your phone and never using a phone again); spam calls have been around as long as telephones themselves.
