Samsung Galaxy S8 versus an LG phone - Best phone option?

I am looking to upgrade my phone from an older Motorola Maxx.

I've heard that the LG phones have SD option which is great for downloading pictures.

I am not interested in getting the latest edition of either phone.  Older model and or refurbished.

Any recommendations/comments? TIA
