Ever since the most recent OS update on my Samsung Galaxy A11 I have not been able to cast the phone's display to my Vizio smart TV as in it will search for the TV nut never show it as an available device.

Before the OS update it worked just fine.

Any idea what the issue is?

Hello JustinMcInvale! We're sorry to read that you're having trouble with your phone cast option. We're happy to help you with this issue.  Are you able to connect to other devices? Have you checked with Vizio if the new OS is compatible?

I seem to remember seeing the living room TV showing up when my dad isn't watching YouTube on it.

I have not checked with Vizio yet.

Thank you for that information JustinMcInvale. We can understand your concern considering that this did work before the update. Can you provide the software version your phone is now running?-Candice

Try disconnecting the TV from wifi and setting it up again.  Also reboot your modem/router.  Sometimes they get wonky communicating and that solves it.

It worked the day before the phone software update, but after the update it won't.

I do know my PC can stream YouTube to that TV.

If the TV is up to date and you reset the wifi on the TV then that's weird.  Usually when I have an issue like that after a phobe update that's what works for me.  Probably the phone update caused something.  Sun-Times you have to wait fotcthe next update to work itself out.   Did you make sure the TV is connected to the wifi, do apps on the TV work ok?  My husbands stupid TV sometimes disconnects from the wifi and I have to redo it.  My brand TV doesn't usually do that.

We want to get you streaming once again. Is the TV updated with the latest software? -Chris

Far as I know yes, but I'm not sure that would be the issue since it only happened after my phone updated and my desktop can stream to it just fine.

Might be a bug in the phone software.

It can be an issue.  If a TV no longer gets current updates and a phone gets the latest update you can have issues like that. I would check the TV settings and see if any updates are available.  Desktop being able to stream doesn't matter.  My TV notifies me when their is an update.

My TV is only a few months old. Think I got it in May. Just checked and it's up to date.

Also the phone used to be able to connect to the living room TV that has a Dish Hopper connected to it (connects through the hopper as the TV is not a smart TV) and the phone won't even show that TV after the phone software update.

Ok sounds like the phone update messed something up.  If you have reset the wifi on  the tv's and reset your modem/router and apps on the TV are connected ting fine not sure what else to do. Last resort is a phone reset or maybe contact the TV makers.

I suspect it's a bug with the phone software.

If so nothing I can do. It will have to be up to the phone software developers to fix it.

I can use the cast function in YouTube and it will display on my TV.

So maybe the phone update made the smartview app no longer work since Samsung no longer supports it.

Would have been nice if some message was sent out stating that Samsung would be dropping support for Smartview.

I have a samsung note 10 plus that got an update a few days ago.  I just checked and all 3 of my TV's show up on my phone and connect fine with smart view.  The youtube thing is something separate as I use that a lot for youtube stuff so I think it has nothing to do with smart view.  I would try the other 2 methods listed at the link and see if one works.  Could be for your model phone Samsung took that away, never know with these updates.

LOL I find it funny that in the description for SmartThings it says for Galaxy phones it requires SmartView which Samsung dropped support for.

So I'm not sure how that is supposed to work.

Also I could not find Samsung DeX as an app. Is that an actual device?

So if SmartView doesn't work on my phone then I cannot use SmartThings and if DeX is a separate device that means I'd have to buy it.

Read here about dex.  I think my son showed me this once but I didn't pay attention good.  My 30yr old genius of a son tends to take the long way around to do things compared to one click of smart view. The link says smartview will still work if installed.    I think you can still mirror your screen with a cable from TV to phone.  Not as convient as wireless though. Can probably search youtube and your phone model how to use dex or just a cable to screen mirror.

In SmartView I do see

[TV] Samsung 6 Series (55)

I do not have a Samsung TV and no such device appears on my network viewing it from the router's settings so not sure what that is.

I just noticed smart things came pre-installed on my phone.  Since your phone has smartview I would give smart things a try.   Here is the link to DEX.
