Suspended service

I paid my bill on the 5th of May and received a confirmation number. 2 days later the amount was credited back to my bank account but my phone was still working. Now today at approx 545 pm they suspended my service for non payment?? But it was paid and the remaining balance of 23 dollars was paid today. What is going on with Verizon finance team??
