TCL 4056V flip phone requires me to download incoming multimedia text messages. Risky?

I have a new TCL 4056V flip phone. I am receiving multimedia texts which only say "you received a multimedia message, press download to retrieve its content".

Since some of these messages only have a phone number with no name attached to it, isn't this risky? Isn't this the same as if I was to click on an attachment or a link from an unknown texter, which could allow a hacker to mess up my phone?

My previous Alcatel Go Flip V flip phone at least showed me what the text said from the sender so I could get an idea if it was sent from a friend (or foe), before I made the decision to open an attachment or link. Is there a way with the TCL phone that I don't have to download every multimedia text to see who its from to ascertain its safety? Maybe a setting I can change?
