Hi! My employer uses Yealink T46S deskphones with Verizon OneTalk service. I have noticed lately that from the time that I pick up the handset (or when I press the button for sound) to make a call, there would be a delay of up to two seconds before I would get a dial tone. It did not seem to matter if the call was to another extension internal to the company or a call to an external number outside of the company.
Following rather 20th century thinking, I decided to try rebooting the phone by removing the power and plugging it back in--to great effect! The phone has a dial tone immediately now.
My question is: Do these phones need to be rebooted from time to time to clear some sort of cache like a PC?

The answer that I received from a Verizon rep about this was that all Yealink deskphones for OneTalk should be rebooted monthly, at least to receive software updates.
