Both WIFI and Bluetooth cannot now be activated on my DROID MAXX. No problems at all until the recent update, so I can only assume that this issue results from the update. At either the WIFI screen or at the Bluetooth screen, the window is empty except the slider, and when the slider is moved from OFF to ON, it hangs there about five seconds then slips back to OFF. Rebooting does make one difference: the first time you open the WIFI screen several options in a menu do appear in the window below the slider as expected, but after the first attempt to slide it to ON and then it returns to OFF, the options disappear and the window is again empty (except for the impotent slider). Is there a fix?

hburgcook We're sorry to hear of the issues with wifi and bluetooth. Updates are supposed to enhance your device and we want to find a fix. Does this happen when connecting to multiple wifi locations or a specific one such as home or work?

hburgcook We understand the importance of wifi and bluetooth. LEt's work together and get this resolved. First, try placing the device in Safe mode and retest wifi/bluetooth connection. http://vz.to/1gVM8x9

thank you. I put the device in safe mode and the device behaved exactly the same. Both wifi and bluetooth will not turn on. I push the slider from OFF to ON and about five seconds later it slips back to OFF.

Thanks for trying that Aaron! I appreciate all the troubleshooting you've done. Let's back up the device and try a hard reset. Here's how:http://bit.ly/Vo3Hi8

Oh no, hburgcook. Thanks for doing all that we have requested so far. Since you have tried in safe mode and after a hard reset, we do want to notify the software team of your findings in order to get this fixed.
Power the device off/on and try again.
Please look out for the direct message from me so I can get more details from you.

I am having this same issue. The only way to recover the device that I have found is to cycle the power. The phone has also been restarting on its own for no apparent reason. Both issues have started since the kitkat update. No problems before that. Will a patch be sent?

Sounds to me like this Kit Kat update has made a bunch of "smart" phones pretty dumb. I have been debating on switching to a DROID MAXX, but I'll be ****** if I am going to pay $600.00 for a phone that isn't going to do what I want it to when I want it to. Also, isn't Google in charge of these DROID software updates, since they own they software?!!!

I am also having the same issue. I did a hard reset twice and Bluetooth still doesn't work.

Well, two weeks and two replacement phones later, it looks like I am back in business. Never did find a solution to the problem, but Verizon's Tamara was pleasant to work with and helpful. They now have the problem phone and may be able to tear it apart and give us an answer.

Do you have to get the Kit Kat update or is it automatic? I'd rather just skip that update and wait for a more stable version of Android.

jejm1975, we want you to have the best wireless experience on your device. No need to worry. Software updates are sent over the air directly to your device from the manufacturer. Should you have any issues with your device within your one year warranty, we will cover that device.

Verizon Wireless Customer Support I am sorry to say, but that is not very reassuring, not to mention that is not an answer to my question. Are software updates automatic or can one opt out of them if they are buggy and people have issues with them? Besides, when/if I go to a smartphone, I will be getting the Motorola Droid MAXX Developers Edition. One reason is so I can have the 32GB vs 16GB storage and another reason, is so I will not be under contract with Verizon and lastly so I can have full control over my device. If I pay they $649.00 premium, then I expect my device to do what I want it to when I want it to do it.

I'm sorry to learn that you are experiencing issues with WiFi, Bluetooth and random power cycles DSBDSB! When did these issues start? Did you recently install any new applications? Run and test in Safe Mode http://vz.to/1jXl3yo and keep us posted.

I am having same issue with my droid maxx. Did we figure out a fix or is it a hardware phone issue?
