When will verizon provide an update to fix kitkat 4.4.2?

When will verizon provide an update to fix kitkat 4.4.2?  Extreme battery discharge, cannot have any camera activity or phone will discharge even faster. Cannot charge to full unless phone is turned off. The update took a functional phone and turned it into one level above useless. I've done battery reset, factory reset, and every other imaginable troubleshoot.

Note 2. 14 months in use. factory reset twice.

Help is just a posting away Pinacocacola! Let's get your device working properly. May I ask ask which Android device do you have? Can I assume that you are using the original battery and charger with the device? As you share the details then we can troubleshoot together.

Thank you…

I am in the same boat Pinacocacola.  I have the Galaxy S4 and I have done a soft reset, factory reset, power saver with blue tooth off and battery calibration.  Nothing works and my phone is dropping 1 to 2% every minute.  I have also been hearing that some battery drainage issues could be because of sim card?

Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Original battery. Original charge cord. No

obstruction, micro USB port needs to be directly in line to with phone to

be funny connected but this is habit to line up and charge on a flat

surface.

I've pulled battery and battery is still above nominal voltage and will

pull more than 3 amps

I've disabled location services as was recommended to reduce consumption

but this has had little effect. Uninstalled skype, snapchat, kik and all

camera related apps and this has helped the most, but still rapid power

drain. This goes without saying that the current state the phone is in I

would not keep forever but I've done it for 8 weeks since the update came

out.

All indications point toward software bug drainage.

My family member recently had the same issue with their Note 2. She replaced the battery, and all is well. If your phone is still within a year of purchase, it may be a warranty issue. That said, it's faster to simply purchase an OEM via a third party seller, such as Amazon. [ Amazon.com: Samsung Original Genuine OEM Samsung Galaxy Note 2/II 3100mAh Spare Replacement Li-ion B... ]

I've had all the same problems and finally got frustrated enough to call the customer service. Apparently kitkat is all my fault and it's my problem for installing it although they said it would have installed itself anyway. They will not replace the phone that I ruined by installing kitkat. They did offer to sell me a new one or I can get on the new EDGE program. Awesome effing company, can't wait to send them more money. Maybe I'll install a virus, I mean an update and ruin my new phone too

Verizon did nothing to your phone. Call your phone maker and call Google who made the update.

Verizon just sends out their updates they don't create them.

Then folks are screaming on here about where is our update? And threatening to leave and then when they get it, they come right back here and complain how kitty Kat or key lime pie etc. Bricked their devices and then blame Verizon.

All carriers are getting these complaints. However the carrier is not the one to blame. Call HTC, or Nokia, or Samsung and tell them your issue. Verizon cannot push out updates on their own like Apple does. They get them from the device makers.

Your anger would be more reasonable if you actually knew what and who was and is the blame.

Verizon makes money and not devices.

Good Luck

I disagree. Google didn't sell me my phone or my communication experience.

Verizon did. And it's Verizon's job to know what is in the hands of their

customer. Verizon chooses the suppliers and partners to bolster their

business. If they didn't do their due diligence, it falls on them remedy.

Hence my question I originally asked.

I dont doubt that Google missed the boat here. I'm sinking every day as a

result of it. You're stating very true facts but not the story.

BestBuy sold you the Xbox One. Are they liable to update that for you? GameStop?

Manufacturers have admitted over the past 2 years that carriers have little to do with the actual update process. Carriers are given a set of options to choose from picked by the manufacturer. Manufacturers handle everything. The only time the carrier has any real involvement is when the carrier test the update to see if it works on the network and doesn't hamper the security of the network.

Carriers do not and will not see proprietary code let alone have it. That's asking for trouble.

Verizon is just one of many sellers of devices. Best Buy or Walmart or any retailer that sells the device is just that selling the device.

They are not responsible for updates the device makers and OS developers are responsible. Since the device was android I stated Google.

Because of a sale does not equate to customer experience for if that was the case you would have issues with all retailers who sell the devices. And you and I both know you will not get fixes from Best Buy for a faulty update to your phone.

I like giving factual information even though many folks that are angry will not agree with it.
