Why do I receive message when mobile hotspot is turned on?

When trying to turn on mobile hotspot I receive the following message: "Use of this service requires a subscription to mobile Hotspot or Mobile broadband connect. to subscribe go to my Verizon mobile. I cannot fine any information on Verizon mobile or otherwise on how to subscribe. please help?

What data plan / package are you currently on? You may be on an older legacy plan, such as a Nationwide or Unlimited Data plan which doesn't include the Hotspot feature as a free feature.

Whether you are a prepaid or postpaid account might make a difference.  There isn't a lot of information in your post to guide you in a direction to a solution.
