Why does Verizon NOT offer the Samsung Note Edge?

I would really like to have this handset.  I have gotten so many responses from Verizon employees, "Because of the curved screen, if you drop it, you'll break it" (Duh?  Isn't this true of just about any handset depending on the surface and height?), "Verizon and Samsung could not reach contract agreements on this device" (Huh?), "It is a mail-order only item" ( I would have called him on that but my contract still has a month to go; I may try next month after my contract expires).  Really, Verizon, at least get the SAME story out to all your employees!

I'll either have to get a Note 4 (not a bad handset, just isn't an Edge) or switch to T-Mobile to get a Note Edge (NOT going to AT&T!).

I haven't seen the note edge in any of the pictures. Does that mean your are using it?

No, I’m not using it, but I’m going to if Verizon ever gets it. I’m a certified gadgetologist and, like you, someone may call it a “gimmick” if they won’t put up the extra $100, but I’m going to get one! If Verizon doesn’t offer it, I may open an account with T-Mobile.

I have it in my office drawer.  I don't use it.  I told my boss "The Note EDGE is nothing more than a Note 4 with a edge display, and I don't need this device to code our apps for it."  I wouldn't be surprised if he took it back and decided to use it himself if not return it(we don't have restocking fees in our state).

The Edge display isn't worth the extra $100 like I eluded to earlier.  It's a nice gimmick, but a lot of what it does can easily be done in a different way without adding $100 to the price tag.  By definition the gimmick has done it's job if you want to spend an extra $100 and willing to wait for it.  It isn't for me as I being a developer I see things differently than consumers do and I can't justify the $100 when I know something can be done for a whole lot cheaper.  Also there are fundamental coding reasons why I don't like Samsung products, and that's an entirely different discussion.

Just because you think $100 is a premium for a feature that doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it's a gimmick. I think a $2,000 sunroof on a car is a useless option. That doesn't mean it's a gimmick, or doesn't appeal to a wide section of customers.

Ahh you are a developer! That's neat! I can understand how you see phones differently. To me its just an attractive phone. I know its just a note 4 and some, but I want it, and I won't be happy till I get it

Sorry I want the actual document not a rumor site that doesn't display that it did pass the FCC and exactly when.  They are the only site that says it does, while other sites display the documents along with the model numbers when they confirm FCC filings.  I just want something more substantial like the AT&T and T-Mobile versions.  Gottabemobile isn't always right when they say things.  I haven't followed a lot of these news sites without skepticism. 

So anyway they will carry it.  If you don't want to wait you can move on.  There is no denying they will carry it.

So anyway looks like early February at the latest based on Verizon track record on late releases. Earliest will be mid January around the 13th. They'll may take preorders the week prior or let everyone know the exact date.

Yes it does...  rumors sites when wrong or misrepresent anything they often bury it in other articles or pass of rumors as facts for clicks.  So when they say something and they don't link sources you should be skeptic on what they are saying.  It makes perfect sense...

You shouldn't--this stuff really isn't that hard to look up for yourself.  The actual FCC authorization page is accessed below (runs a direct search on the FCC database):

Note the upper 700 MHz band that is Verizon's (C-block).  The device passed FCC authorization more than a month ago, on November 19th.
